SC10 Thread Part 2

This doesn't apply to the new 3disc.
You should see the tires spin softly on takeoff. The looser the track, the looser you can run the slipper.

Looking for some help on weight placement.
I run on a small indoor clay track. med traction and dusty
35x85
When I am looking at set ups most guys run 3 oz behind the battery, does that include the lipo weight ballast ? or additional ?
The A.E Lipo weight is 17G so that would only be .59 oz right ? Or is my middle school math failing me. LOL
Just looking for some feedback on weight placement. I like to run my full size lipo pack all the way forward for extra steering. Running a 10.5 so weight is not really a issue.
Thanks in advance!

It's 3oz behind the battery. I layer mine in rows. 1oz row right in front of the toe block. Then another forward of that row. Then stack the last row on top of those two like a pyramid.
Then run 1/2oz or the FT weight in that position. Some of his later/newer setups that are posted reflect this.
Adjust ride height/tire choice to taste.

Any of the Maifield setups are a great place to start.

Anyone else running the speedo mid chassis and what are you using to separate the lipo and ESC ?

Awesome Thanks, my last practice run I was messing with battery placement and was loving the steering of the pack all the way forward but the rear traction wasn't the same as 2/3 forward. I am close to Maifield's set up from Trail and Error

I am still sliding the rear end at 42 grams in the rear battery weight. 3 0z.'s equals 85 grams, but I think that is required for mod motors, not stock spec. My guess is somewhere around 65 grams for stock spec. I tried 65 grams and it was planted, but I was worried about balance dynamics. If guys are running 3 0z.'s, so much for that! I am only running my motor at 92%, so the extra weight won't hurt. I am sure I need to bump my spring strength with the extra weight.

so you want side bite huh......well I never found it, lol. Those wont really help you. I tried everything and never found the side bite to match my b4, I just assume short courses have too much weight up high. Did you try the new gull wing arms and matching tower? they are supposed to help calm the truck down. Also, the +3mm wheels can help with stability in the corners.

I run the powerstrokes over the AE big bores. I run Avid springs on mine and have also replaced the stock pistons with M2C racing conical pistons. It makes the shocks amazing! You will also need to get the universal mounting kit from proline or shim them up yourself.
Here's some older shots I found before I put the avids on so you can see how stock will look. I used the traxxas upper spring retainers after I put on Avid springs too. They felt a bit more secure under the ride hight nuts, but fit fine without them as well.

What holes are most people running on the SC10B front arms and tower? After i converted to this front end, I have been having a problem with the truck rolling on the nose too hard. I'm thinking of standing the shocks up more. I am all the way in on tower and arms. Any help would be appreciated

one guy here locally runs ribbed tires on his SC10.
He was turning a faster lap than anyone else was.
But I feel it was his driving not the type of tire he had.
He qualifies well at other tracks too.

For those wanting more rear traction/side bite: drill the 4th hole in the shock tower.
As for stock vs mod, I can see where the 3oz may be excessive.
Somewhere in the older setup sheets, there's one from Ruona that had the shocks stood up and runs the pack in the middle. I ran it on a tight/med bite indoor and it worked real well. 20deg caster blocks worked better for me with it. Still uses blue/green springs.
