well my buggy is going on her maiden voyage tonight. Anyone recommend what tooth pinion to run with a RX8 gen2/tekin 1900kv motor?

17-19t will suit you well. Tune depending on the track size.

Guess I will start with a 18 and go from there. Thanks!

Anyone have a good e-buggy light setup for the EB48 (2S lipo, small track indoor clay) Mainly concerned with oils to run in diffs and shocks, along with springs. I have Kyosho 1.3x8 pistons front and rear.

I previously had my EB48 setup for the Blair DNC setup at my old huge outdoor track on regular 4S electronics but the track has since closed down.

+1 18 feels the best to me and I pretty much use it on all tracks.

I don't have a full setup sheet on me right now, but most of us are running 7-7-5 now at my local track where 2s eBuggy Lite has taken off. Most of us run a stiffer suspension setup on the medium grip clay/dirt mix with super soft tires or clay/soft if you like to drive sideways.

For shocks, my general recommendation is if you like how it drove with full 4s pack and 8th scale motor weight on the new track, drop the springs 1 color and your oils by 2.5 or 5 wt and start from there when switching to the 2s and sc motor setup.

Yea pretty much the same for me. Running the Kyo Green springs front and back. I was running with regular ebuggies so did a 3s setup to keep the electronics cooler, but ebuggy has pretty much died at the indoor track since 1/10 4wd buggy has taken off.

I've been enjoying the eb48 as an eBuggy lite, but I think I'm going to try a few things to lighten it up a bit more to make it easier on the electronics. I have my eye on a few spots to cut up or dremel off. But what I'm also going to do is replace the center driveline with the lighter SC driveline for less rotating mass where it is spinning the fastest. I'll start the project in a couple weeks and make sure to document everything, as well as the weight and balance changes from the existing full car.

Note: I'm purposely not just using the SL conversion because I want it to be easier to convert back to the full thing on the occasions I get to go run outside again.

Thanks Dave! See you at a Norcal race pretty soon hopefully.

I've been a bit paranoid about heat issues too. I still have the mech brakes on, seems like it would add less stress on the electronics for a slight weight penalty. Had a lot of fun practicing with the EB48 last week.

first run of my buggy went pretty well once i got the alignment set. 18t pinion might be a tad hot though so i am gonna drop to a 17 and see how that works. Other than that i am very happy. Need to get a few more sets of tires though as the clay panther rattlers i was normally using for the track i run on turned my buggy into a drift missile on tuesday.

I just ordered my EB48.2. Anyone have a good starting setup for medium bite dirt tracks. All the tracks I run on are outdoor, larger tracks with medium to large jumps. I was just looking for a good starting point.

The stock setup is really good... Only change I've made is to go heavier oils and 8 x 1.3 but it's really quite warm here down under and my oils were getting really soft

The Ryan Lutz and Joe Bornhorst setups work great outdoors, but indoors they probably wont be as fast as the more traditional setups using 8 x 1.3/1.4 pistons. That is, unless you drive with a heavy throttle finger like those guys.
