Default Get grip on Clay

Hi all!

I hope I post this in the right section,

So I've got a quite specific question here. We're currently renewing our track in Belgium (Sprimont), and it's an outdoor track made of clay.

Now my question is: do anyone know what kind of product/liquid, we could spray to get more grip on clay?

Or is there any known product everybody uses automatically when creating a track made of clay?

It will be made for 1/10 and 1/8 buggies and 1/10 Sort Course.

I don't know where I heard once that Coke can be sprayed on clay to get more grip... Really don't know if it's a great idea...

Hope to read something interesting soon!

For all those who eventually want to know.

There is some kind of liquid called "Soiltac" that you can fin on soiltac.com and that makes your clay less dusty and gives you more grip.

Cheers.

I have heard mixed things on the SoilTac. It makes it hard and smooth so the track will groove up nicely, but when the 8th scales start running they break it up in big plates. I haven't used it personally just seen the results and heard of some issue with the bigger, heavier cars. But, it's made for BMX so it must be able to take some punishment.

You can use calcium carbonate in powder form to mix in the the clay. That is what we used on our track and it really helps retain the moisture you apply. Also, in the past I have used dish soap in a sprayer to help retain the moisture for traction.

I know the Coke syrup is used on our local asphalt track, but never heard used for dirt/clay.

The best thing you can do to a clay track is to put a nice thick layer of loamy soil on top of it.

Let the clay dry & use brooms to sweep the dust...

or

keep it wet & run slicks

I've heard this method works well on many track surfaces... hard packed dirt... carpet... asphalt... grass... existing loamy top soil... kitchen floor

Nothing makes an off road track better like more dirt!
