I plan on running stock.

I ran one and loved it. Sadly ST is dead again here and if a class does form up on a race night its never stock.

Hi guys, I'm just finishing my build on my FT T4.1. I read through several posts here on gearing with a 13.5 and found a pretty wide range listed. I'm running a LRP TC spec esc (blinky) with a New Fantom 13.5 Ion V.4 motor with a high torque rotor. I run Fantom 6000mah 65c batteries. I've seen 27/75, 28/72, 18/87, 20/87 combo's listed. I'm running on a fairly tight loamy track with no big staight aways. For comparison I'm running a 30/72 in my B4.1 with a Fantom Apex 17.5 in blinky and it's perfect. Any help on this would be great. I want to go break it in this Sunday for the first time. Any help on this would be great. Thanks!!

I run 22/87 with my 10.5. With a 13.5 I would be 25/87. Torque rotors always add 1 more tooth.

Anyone running a Tekin 17.5 in their T4? If so how do you like it?

If it's blinky, the Tekin's are dogs. The much newer Revtech and Orion 17.5's outpace them by far. The Tekin motors really like boost though so if it's a boosted class, you'll be be fine.

I know a LRP Vector X-12 13.5 geared 23/81 FLYS and comes off the track at 160 in 10 mins

How's the acceleration with this combo? The track I'm running on is pretty tight and loamy in the corners. We are mainly using step pins or goosebumps just to give you an idea of the surface.

Track is very tight and has a large triple in it. It has no problems doing the jump and is moves very well. Lots of TQ and speed.

With the stock RTR transmitter, what batteries are ya'll using besides the basic 8 AA batteries?

MarkA 06-22-2012 11:25 AM

Not the stock radio (I have a Futaba 4PL) but I've had a great experience with these in my transmitters.

If I had it to do all over again, I would go with the cheaper lipo.

Brockcorey 06-22-2012 07:49 PM

Are Lipo's as dangerous as everone makes them seem? I've done a lot of researching about them and seem to be more worried that the effects of improper use of charging can cause the packs to erupt, and that the jarring of rough terrain and jumps can cause the packs to erupt as well.

If you take care of them properly, they are not a big deal. If you run hard side packs you don't have too much to worry about as far as punctures go. You basically don't want to compromise the foil layer surrounding the cells themselves. Once the interior meets atmosphere....it will pretty much incinerate anything around and above the pack. Just use common sense and follow the instructions and you will be fine. If you have any questions about it don't be afraid to ask for details.
