Hideeho
They really aren't dangerous as long as you aren't stupid w/ them. When @ home I charge @ 1c (mah rating/1000 in amps, 5000mah=5amp charge) but @ the track I charge @ 20amps (some folks say this shortens the life expectancy of a lipo, but all the reading I have done from people that have actually done the testing say it doesn't make a difference, where as people that say not to charge @ higher rates are just repeating what they have heard elsewhere, like I'm doing here:lol:). I run my lipo cut off @ 3.2v per cell & try to pull it off before I hit that. Lipos are going to swell eventually. Do not buy used ones that state they are swollen at all (your idea of a little & the sellers may not be the same!). A small amount of swelling is acceptable for a practice pack, but if it is to the point that the case rocks while sitting on the table with the lightest touch discontinue using it. It is better to always balance charge your pack, but not necessary (make sure you do it after each day at the track). Keeping cells balanced will increase the life expectancy of your lipo. If you are not going to use the lipo for more than a day or so, put into storage mode (most chargers will do this for you, but if yours doesn't it is 60% mah capacity +/-) & charge the night before or morning of going to the track. Putting it in storage mode will GREATLY increase the life expectancy of the pack.

NEVER EVER CUT OPEN THE CASE!!!!!

There is way to much chance of puncturing the lipo. If the lipo cell is punctured it will start to hiss & a little smoke will start to come out. GET IT OUT OF YOUR HANDS NOW!!!! Preferably onto something nonflammable. In a very few seconds it is going to turn into a jumping jack (4th of July fireworks). It is going to shoot a jet of VERY hot flame out of the puncture, burn itself to the ground & catch anything in the area on fire. There will also be lots & lots of smoke.

As some one who started with nicad batteries WAY back in the day (& struggling to finish a 4 minute main), lipos are the single biggest & best change to hit rc since the invention of the integrated circuit (brushless motors being #3, & spectrum 2.4ghz radios #4).

Hello everyone

i was reading through all posts i missed since i had a problem with the company that sold me the charger through ebay and didnt have the hang of a charger till like now, so i was absent like 3 weeks in the forums but i want to thank eveyrone on this forum for always helping me on whatever i needed, im really happy everyone in this forum is so friendly, even more friendly than some jackass at the track that says tekin motors arent for racing, ill probably never meet any of you guys that helped me in this forum, but i bow my head and say thanks :)! have a great day! just bought some parts for my t4.1 (hubs, spur, arms, end rods because i smashed it while driving it in a corner of the street) but its been a great car! just installed the 4800kv castle c36m motor, cant wait to see how it handles.

I have a new part for AE shocks that works well. Its a bushing kit that replaces the stock shock bushing with a CNC machined bushing that guides the shock shaft correctly. Stock shock bushing has over .030 clearance between it and the shock shaft so this leaves the orings to do all the work of a bushing. My bushings have a .002 clearance and are machined from a Ultra slick material. We have found that the car is more consistant and seals last longer as they do not have to hold the side to side movement of the shock shaft. Shock oil stays cleaner also.

www.factoryone-rc.com Sorry for the self promotion but im just a little guy in a big fish world...LOL

If you take suggestions, offer advice, and come back to the forum as a forum member as opposed to a salesman, it's no big deal. The other manufactures that have showed up on the thread and offered up their setups and stuff have been pretty well received (Avid in particular).

I just got back into racing a couple years ago after a long, young child-induced hiatus. I race at Full Throttle Raceway in Foley, Minnesota when I have the weekends open (not very often in the summer) and I also have a pretty decent track in my backyard that I run on probably every other evening.

Cool.. I lived in the Twin Cities from 1997 to 2006. Ran racing for the HobbyZone store in Eagen MN for a bunch of years.

I used siver rear 22 springs in front and yellow rear 22 in the back with traxxas 3768 upper/lower spring retainers they work good just have to get two of them cuz only come two to a bag but they r only 3.00 ea.

Hey Gurus.. You all putting Losi springs and retainers on for better handling and no shock body rub? Or is there better springs to use like Avid?

Do you all have part numbers? THis will fit on my AE V2 shocks right?

Or is this it..?? -->>

This is the cheaper way
Traxxas #3768 x2... has the upper collars
You can use the lower cups from those packages but you need to help them on,. they fit VERY tight.
Or
Losi lower cups TLR5095
Losi front red spring #TLR5172
Losi Front Orange spring #TLR5173

Losi Rear Yellow Spring #TLR5167
Losi Rear WHite spring #TLR5166

I run Red/Yellow and it has a lot of steering and moves very well.
Orange front take a little steering away entering the turn and White rear give it a little push...

Thanks! :spidey:

I'm going to be running Avid springs on mine I'm already running Avid on my SC10.
I use the Traxxas #3768 on the T4 since I had the bottoms laying around and I got some extra top collars from a buddy who runs all Avid collars and cups.

Losi lower cups (TLR5095) are a lot nicer.

I have a practically brand new T4.1 for sale in the for sale threads if anyone is looking for one in the Los Angeles area.

MaplestreetRC 06-25-2012 11:38 PM

Hey guys.

My T4.1 is getting pretty dialed in, but I'm having an issue with rear kick.

When I go over jumps, I have to absolutely STAY on throttle or the rear end kicks up bad and I nose dive or do a front flip no matter how much I try to correct with throttle.

It's not just me, I've let really good drivers take it for laps and they say the same thing; 'wow you really have to stay on throttle over jumps dont you'

How could I adjust that? Softer springs? Or is that just a stadium truck thing and I gotta constantly be aware of it?

Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

Hey Bert,
you can use a lighter spring or heavier oil. Maybe front is too soft as well? what's your setup?

OldGuydust 06-26-2012 06:07 AM

What is your battery position? If it is forward move it all the way back, just be careful it does not effect some other aspect of handling? Are you running a wing on the back of your body? If not, this may help as well
