Thanks..

Is the most recent firmware on this link what I want?

http://www.speedpassion.net/en/download.asp?page=1

Do I need the SP programmer or will the yellow one work?

I can't get it to communicate with the SP or the provided software. Does it need to be powered externally or will the USB power it (Like a tekin does)

I've programmed tekin and castle ESCs no problem, I don't understand why I'm having issues. (Unless the ESC is D.O.A.)

the speed control needs to be powered by the battery ..steps as follows-

open hobbywing control software
plug in speedo to usb adapter
plug usb adapter into the computer
turn speed control on.

the green indicator will show on the lower left that the speed control is detected and you are ready to program the speedo..it will then take a second and auto detect which firmware is on the speedo and the current default settings.

Hey Guys,

I'd appreciate some suggestions. I have three builds I'm putting together and I need motor, esc and servo for each. I'd like to go all HobbyPartz or HobbyKing.

1. Hot Bodies D8T - Electric conversion. Which motor/Esc/Servo?
2. Jammin CRT.5 - Electric conversion on "pro" conversion chassis (allows for full size servo's)
3. TLR 22 Truck -Which motor/ESC/Servo?

Thank you very much for your time and suggestions.

I figured it out. I needs to be switched "on" and have a battery supplying power. It' not USB powered like other stuff I've used.

Edit: I see you posted the answer while I was figuring it out. These PDF instruction manuals aren't the best.

the link I provided for the SP software works fine. The USB is identified as a hobbywing.

Neat.

I got a brand new 8.5 motor. Anyone want to trade it for a 17.5? I ordered it a month ago when I had a car I wanted an 8.5 in. Now that truck is long gone.

mmmm , this may have happened to me today . was running my 4wd buggy in grass to try clean it a bit after a very wet clay run got real hot and it seemed to run with brakes on , ive had this resistence with wires that wern't properly insulated touching . haven't had the chance to open it up for a look yet , glad this above post came up gives a direction to look . cheers

even if they arent and are just a straight forward sensored speedo at that price as long as the durability is there its still a good deal!!BTW the motors are the same design as the one included with the yellow hobbywing...so the pricing is a little out on those when they can be had for 35.00.But really interested in the speedo..
