I ask because one of my buddies is using it and he breaks spindles like crazy, where I have yet to break one. The only thing I have actually broken so far is ripping the ball stud out of a caster block, but I think that was because it was slightly loose (buggy).
I have my share of tumbles and yet to break anything .

My theory is that its because of Alu. slider
Well, this is really the first I have heard of this. He might want to consider the Aluminum spindles then.

When using the aluminum steering rack, I found that putting on a Graphite impregnated oil helps with the smoothness. I used a solution i use on my motocycle clutch cable where the carrier evaporates off leaving just the graphic.

I have also noticed and fixed an issue where the steering link was binding on the servo horn when in full right turn lock. It was actually trying to lift the link. I ended up trimming a little off the servo horn.

also is a servo saver needed?
My kit went together SMOOTH... Saturday I hit the track and I am IMPRESSED! With my XXX-TCR, my best "fast laps" were in the mid 25's (with a truck that I have been tuning and tweaking on for years -- it started life as a MF1)... In every round of qualifying with the 22T Saturday night, I had fast laps in the mid-high 24's -- an improvement of from 1/2 to 1 full second per lap..! WOW! (I TQ'd the class, led almost the whole A-main, caught one pipe on the last lap and had to settle for 2nd...)

I ran the "kit" setup with only minor changes:
* 0.5oz of weight on top of the rear bulkhead (I've been running this on my 22)
* 30wt oil in the front...
* 25wt oil in the rear...
* Stock (Green) front springs, but changed to Yellow rear springs...
* Changed to RTR shock caps and built shocks "emulsion" style...

The local track is the RC Race Barn in Jefferson City, Mo. -- a large (about 100' x 60') indoor track with good traction (semi-clay surface) temps are cool this time of the year (track is heated, but temps are around 50F when it's cold like it was Saturday)...

As to the "servo saver" question -- I've been running my 22 buggy since April, with no need for a servo saver, and I don't have one on my 22T and don't anticipate needing one...

Thought I'd come on here and stir the pot.

With the new 22T, I wonder if there is a 22NT in the future. I'd like to see a return of nitro trucks. Just sayin.

Ryan,

I'm sorry for making such a general statement about RTR electronics. In fact I think Losi is making more of an effort to stay current with technology than a number of other companies, the SCTE RTR comes with a really nice motor, ESC, and even a radio that's good enough that it's sold separately. You have to admit though that there are some great cars out there with horrible radios, servos, and esc/motor combos.

It's just that after using 3pks and 4pks for many years that maybe I've become somewhat of a snob with respect to electronics, I didn't mean that the SCTE had crap electronics. They are actually quite good, so good for RTR that I almost bought one for my son but we're going to build a 22T instead.

I have no doubt that the 22T is an awesome machine, can't wait to build one with him. I've always liked Losi and have had several, my LST is still one of my favorite trucks ever. I think it's also great that as Losi's product developer you are active in the forms.

The RTR caps are plastic I do believe and the stockers are aluminum.

Default Tranny Binding

The idler gear is binding in my tranny. In short, when I slow spin the gears via the drive shaft there is a point in which the tranny binds and it feels like like bad gear mesh or gear binding on the case. I've isolated the problem to the idler gear and was wondering if anybody has experienced a similar problem.
