Default SCRT10 Novak 4.5 High Torque Gearing

Ok, I'm one of the few people left that hasn't jumped ship on the Jammin and switched to a Losi or Associated. Running a Novak Ballistic 4.5 High Torque motor, what gearing would work? Novak says that running a high torque 550 means you should increase your pinion size by a factor of 1.3. Novak supplies a 14t pinion with their off the shelf 4.5 standard system. Should I start with 18? I'm running a 16 right now and the motor comes off right at 160 degrees. I've heard that running too low a gear can cause higher temps. Is anyone running this setup that can help? Mod 1 pinions aren't cheap.

It just doesn't seem to $hit n git like the other guys.

i ran that motor in my hyper and now my durango. i run a 16 on a 1/10th track and a 17 on 1/8 tracks. i was running the 16 on a mid sized track it was over 100 out side and my motor came off a 8 min run at 170. i would not want it to get much hotter than that.

oh and this motor is stupid fast
