Nothing beats a solid buggy (Mugen MBX6 Eco, XRay 808E etc). Yes they are expensive, but it pays in the long run

Evader DT - $150
1 year DTX warranty (any broken parts) - FREE!!!
ESC/Motor upgrade - $100
Ball Bearing Conversion - $15
EXT2 Metal Idler Gear (DT idler is plastic) - $3.50
Total - $270ish after shipping
With these upgrades the truck is darn near bulletproof..
I've used my warranty twice already with no questions asked... I burned up some tires doing donuts on my 2nd run. I called, complained that they were "prematurely wearing" and BAM new ones on there way for free!! I cracked a rim. One rim! Instead of sending me one rim, THEY ARE SENDING A WHOLE SET!!!! Customer support @ DTX ranks supreme!!! Totally free of charge and parts arrive within 2-3 days via UPS... Not too shabby!!!

For sure the best basher is a 1/8 monster truck like the Traxxas EREVO or HPI Savage FLUX . I wont get into the argument of which one is better as they both have their merits and are both great trucks in their own right .
But the price of admission is pretty steep unless you already have some of what is needed to run them such as batteries (two 2s LiPos from 1/10 cars) and a decent LiPo charger . But they are a BLAST to run and beat on and with a few mods can be made very tough .
So as others have said , its all up too your wallet and how deep it is ........

captain slash 4x4 gets my vote for toughest vehicle out there, iv jumped it, hit trees full bore, raced it, submerged it, mudded it, and it kept asking for more, it broke an a arm at the track once, besides that it is bulletproof, with a 3s it should do wheelies, i know with a mamba system and 4s it does wheel stands at any speed you want it to
