Geared and set up the same as my castle 3800 in my hyper sc,it felt a little softer/smoother power. Temped at 150 after the race, and took 3200mah to run a 6 minute race with about 1- 1 1/2 minutes of practice.gonna go down a gear and try that next round.
Motor build seems pretty good. Seemed to have aslightly stronger magnetic cog. By hand than the castle. Seemed to have less drag brake though which didn't make sense. First impression seems to be afine option to the castle. My truck had a little more top end, slightly less on the bottom, could have been gearing. Seems good to me though.

This motor is 4000kv compared to the Castle's 3800kv so your findings are 100% to be expected if you geared them the same. A bit more topend and a bit softer bottom. I'll finally get mine on the track this morning, I'll report back tonight my findings

Yeah, but the 5% difference in kv was more like a 15% difference in feel of punch. Top end seemed rather close. The drag brake difference was what I was getting at. It didn't seem to have as much. Could have been in my head though. Just what I seemed to notice. I tried the 13 tooth. And punch was a little better. Mah usage was pretty similiar though, as was the temp. Tried a 15 tooth on my hyper as well, top end was better, and punch was similiar. I broke a rear hub and pulled off early and forgot to temp it, but I am pretty sure it was a little warmer.
Only real changes to the system from the castle were a different rx,so I recalibrated the esc,and might have missed a trim or something. And I was too lazy to change out my motor connectors with the nicely supplied ones,so the fit wasn't perfect(my female ends were a little shorter so the male wasn't fully covered.) Probably didn't make a difference though.
Pleased with the price and performance, build etc. I would buy another.

Finally got a race weekend on mine in my SC10 4x4 and this motor is the real deal. I had it geared 18/92 and had to turn down my throttle endpoint to 90 to control the topend and use some expo to soften the bottom end as well. Even doing that I had plenty of power and the hottest it got during a 6 minute qualifier was 145deg. My batteries were taking back in 1800-1850mah after a run so 10 minutes on this motor will be no problem (at least in an AE, that tank losi might be different) For the $45 that CKhobby is charging for these motors, it's a steal.

Thanks for the feedback guys and its very welcome.

I have used lots of diffrent esc,s with the motor. HW SC10, HW SC8 in 4x4SC and ezrun 60a, XC-60 in 2wd SC or 10th scale truck buggy and the results have been very good with either.

If you are gonna use a castle ESC in a 4x4 truck would recommend a MMP or the old Mamba max. Both work just fine with this motor.

Will have a 4900kv version very soon for the guys who like to take things over the top

Yup, running an mmp as well. For a point of reference my castle motor was taking around 3300 mah between runs. If you stuck either in my truck, I would have a diffucult time telling them apart by driving them.

finally got to run my ckhobby 4000kv 4 pole today in my slash 4x4. geared 15/54 it came off the track at 144 after a full battery (ambient temps about 70). performance was right on par with the castle 1410, but i think it's powerband is a bit more linear than the 1410, so it feels easier to drive. i would like to try it at 16/54.

the bottom line is that especially with castle's huge price increases, there is no reason to buy the 1410 when this motor is out there as an option.

nice, nice motor.
