Hey guys, quick question. With my truck on its way, I wanted to order the clutch basket. Do I also need the garodisc as well?

I also didn't have the cash for any spares but now I'm good. What should I pick up?

Thanks!

Garodiscs aren't necessary, but are a tuning option.

start out with a HD pad for the front drive, and two standard pads in the basket.

Don, I appreciate you effords, but Im not talking about the reedy 4-pole
I want to know how the Reedy Sonic 550 is.

you hear so little about this motor. why?

The Reedy 550 motors are really nice for the 4x4. Great power and they run cool. If RM can't smoke it, it must be good!

yep, we race here always, doesnt matter what weather.
only way we cancel a race is when the track is a massive mudpool on the raceday.

I have had races that the buildup of mud in the body and chassis was so huge, my truck was twice as heavy as normal.

I would use the clutch basket with standard pads or garodisc without. I have both and I prefer the garodisc right now for the tracks I race on.

Help! SC10 4x4, obviously, Tekin Pro4 4000Kv motor, MMP esc, Savox 1258 servo, and a Novak glitch buster. But I'm still getting brown outs. This is very frustrating. :(

It could be your MMP. Im running the same motor as you but with a RX8 and i have never had a hiccup with the system.

Check the temps on the esc the next time you experience a shut down as it could be your esc thermaling.

coconut 01-10-2012 02:49 PM

What do you mean by brown out or hiccup in the system?

Did a carbon-rod brace today...4mm carbon :D..

Agreed. Not everyone has access to a nice groomed indoor track. Last year at the RCPS Canadian Nationals, we had rain the night before the finals and both 2wd and 4wd SC were early in the day....I ended up pulling out the arts and crafts hat and made a pair of inner bodies out of 2L cola bottles and some zip ties.... with the amount of crud stuck to the outside of the pop bottle, I can only imagine how fried my RX8 would have been without the cover.

I think making a inner cover out of pantyhose and a light frame would be the way to go. I know full scale MX'ers do that to the plastic to keep mud from caking up and adding weight to it. I think you can spray it down with scotch guard and balance out water protection and airflow.

From the horses mouth on the MMP:

Andy,
The problem here is your servo. The Savox servos draw a lot of amperage from the internal BEC's, leaving none to power the receiver properly, and you are losing calibration from the receiver dropping out. The capacitor is helping, but the CC BEC 10A external BEC is a permanent solution to your problem if you want to keep using that servo. Ohm's Law states that amperage and voltage are inversely proportional, so when the esc is set for 5.5V, everything operates fine, and when you raise it to 6V, the BEC keeps dropping power due to the amperage rating decreasing. The CC BEC 10A will allow you to run any servo and accessories (like a transponder) you want to, and you can set it for the voltage you need with our software before you install it.
The yellow light on the Max Pro should be flashing at neutral, it will only be solid if you are running a sensored motor in Sensored Only Mode with Cheat mode engaged. This was done for ROAR-racing rules to make it easy for Tech Inspectors to see if someone is using the illegal timing boost or not.
