So for those who have tried the new Jconcepts +6mm Hazard wheel over the standard wheel are you all convinced that it is "THE" wheel off-set to have?

I chatted with DE Racing about making a wheel with the +6mm off-set also but I personally have never used the Jconcepts wheel. I have been using spacers to add 3mm to my truck (as wide as I can go) with the standard DE Racing wheel and feel the truck is considerably better. I assume +6mm would be even better.

I run DE XXX-SCT rear rims on my sc10 4x4. They add 2.5mm per side for a total of 5mm. The only catch is they have rather deep hexes in the rim so I must run strc hexes that don't have the extra flange at the bearing side. Also, with rpm arms I have to take a dremel and just nick the inside ribs so they don't hit on the thicker plastic around the hinge pins. Work great for me!

PS, the rims here:

are DE rims and are half off right now with coupon code bogo

JC 6mm rims do help .

Truck corners with less roll & gains extra stability.

I have the hazard extra offsets +3mm on my sc10 4x4 and i see a significant increase in stance and cornering performance. remember when your calculating leverage the moment you gain is actually much larger than the said 3mm when it comes to cornering assistance. 3mm extra leverage gives you much more across the center line.

FYI, it's +3mm per side, not +6mm. The truck is a total of 6mm wider though.

Shimming your truck to +3mm on each side while using the standard DE wheel is the same as running the Hazard wheels.

They are my only wheel now. I ran them back to back and with a buddy ( 2 trucks): We where both .2-.4 faster with the Hazard wheels same tires/track/day/etc. that said, with cheater width Blitz rims we were both consistently .5 per lap faster
I have not tried shimming for width.
Before the Hazards I only ran DE wheels :) and now I miss them, tell DE to make some :)

quick question... is the stock body the 09 champion body? I'm buying a wrap and want to make sure it's the correct one

Thanks!

johnbugman 01-06-2012 11:54 AM

yes its 09 body

vito 01-06-2012 11:59 AM

the air is faster the savox is more power. you guys make me work now . the air one is in the kit. i can live with it now.:tire::tire:

johnbugman 01-06-2012 12:04 PM

my savox 1257 sg is super fast and can handle 7.0v. im running it at 6.0v super fast and strong. You guys start runnin 4 pole motors and the torque will start to straighten the wheels when turned if servo is around the 120-160 range. Just my 2 cents. plus running any electronis below overall maximums will give better performance and cooler temps.maxing out a airtonics at 6.0v cant be good for long.

Not a 100% but I think with airtronics servos you will need an extension wire...

I am using the same servo in my truck it is fine . And yes you will need servo extension for this servo .

Chris,

With as shallow as the hexes are in the rims I don't see how you would shim 3mm. I am prob missing something simple but?

Could you describe how this would be done with the AE wheels?

I run a unheated indoor track and the Jconcepts plastic gets much more brittle compaired to the Losi, DE and AE wheels in the cold.

When I shim the wheels, I actually use PL wheels which have a deeper hex.

However, I put one 1mm shim on the inside of the hex (between the bearing and the wheel pin) and two 1mm shims on the outside of the hex. Make sure you have knurled locknuts otherwise you run a big chance of losing a wheel.

I asked Dave about doing that and he was not sure if there was enough axle left sticking out for the nut.

Thanks Chris, I meant +6mm overall. I have spaced the standard DE wheel out 1.5mm each side (+3 overall) and found the same results as others have stated. Faster more stable

He is working on it now. DE is normally pretty quick getting stuff done when it comes to wheels. Drop them a e-mail and let them know their customers want them. :D
