Bead Locks...so Far So GOOD!

Is anyone running Proline wheels on there truck? Which ones have the correct offset?

Dhad, Im running ProTrack Beadlocks.....work like a charm with THEIR tires. Calibers earlier today on the locks in M4 compound at Island Raceway in Lindenhurst NY. Just enough side slip....plenty of forward traction. Doesnt bother me much that the offset isnt the "widest".

To gain more traction I should switch to a "softer" rear spring correct? I am currently running blue in the front and yellow in the rear.

Or soften the sway bar.
Or stiffen the front (take away steering).
Or lower the roll center.
Or change tires.
Or move the shocks more inboard (more leverage ratio from the arm makes the spring effectively softer).
Or a bunch of other things.

Be mindful when people say things like "more traction" they are usually speaking of the chassis in a steady state corner, like on a skid pad. Softer springs make the car a little slower on input from steering and throttle.

When I ran my truck with blues on it, it would push midcorner and then snap around at corner exit, jumped poorly, and was kind of lazy.

Out of curiosity, how many shims do you have under the inner ball stud in the rear?

Since then I've torn the truck apart and replaced every bearing, lubed every moving part and checked for clearance/binding but I still have that loud noise. What I did notice this time was a notch worn into the rear top shaft, right where the second washer sits on top of the thrust bearing. I thought maybe it was seizing up so I took all the ball bearing out, cleaned them up and lubed them. Even that didn't change anything.

The top shaft only has like 3 packs on it, that's part of the reason I noticed the wear this time. Any ideas what can be doing this? I can try and post a pic later if it'll help.

Kind of a long shot here but are you running the STRC aluminum belt pulleys? I had a similar problem with my truck and tracked it down to the rear pulley having enough side to side motion that it would hit the inner slipper hub. Worth a look. I am not sure if the plastic pulleys would cause the same noises or not but who knows, you may get lucky.

-- MANTIS CENTER DIFF --

I just finished installing and playing and all I can say is Oh my god acceleration!!! It is dark here so my testing has consisted of some parking lot action and some dirt lot play while avoiding the snow patches but man is this good. I was running a stock slipper with HD pads powered by a Tekin Pro4 4000kv which has never seemed lacking until now. I can see and hear the difference. Under acceleration the front end is lifting to point where it wants to rotate over but the ball diff is allowing the rear to settle as the power transfers to the now lightened front end. The front tires expand under acceleration and tear at the ground creating a great sound on the pavement and some nice roosters in the dirt.

Under acceleration it feels very much like I have an overdrive pulley but quickly balances out and feels very neutral off throttle. Marcus and I talked about this before I received it and he was dead on, it has the advantages of both an overdrive pulley and a non-overdrive pulley. Very NICE job on this upgrade Marcus.

The product itself is a breeze to install and the only difference I noticed is that mine shipped with a 62 tooth spur rather than the 60 that I thought they were going to ship with. Since I already run a 62 it made the install that much quicker. Thanks again Marcus!!

WTF! Alot of you have your Center diff's

Marcus, Where's my Center diff! :flaming:

Oh Sh*t balls... I 'have' to run a 58t Spur. How could I have forgotten about that..............................................

Thanks for the info! I'm going to pick up the garodisk and chassis brace at some point. I just want to get the major things now. What is the Exotech chassis about?

It stiffens the chassis and prevents the twist and bending that the stock chassis will allow, this causes belt slip problems. Also the chassis is about 5 grams heavier and that helps keep the truck more planted and effectively makes it feel like having a lower center of gravity.

Today was the day...

Went to the track for "research" like I told CoyoteSlash..... Had so much fun that I'm still grinning ear to ear! Today was the first time in the last few months since I have been back from a dozen year hiatus that it was FUN! Everything just clicked (even had the confirmation click from the diff as an audio cue). I had never driven any 4wd RC vehicles up until a few months ago....I finally found some flow! MTK clutch basket has worked wonders. CoyoteTek brace has been a lifesaver when darting.... Lol. I see a few more upgrades from Mantis will have to be in my near future!! I just want to give a THANK YOU to one and all on this thread for their help, input, and time spent helping make it an easy place to find answers scout this truck!!

I need to thank the RC Shox Shop for there great quality product's. I am only using the dual Dual Garodisc's now. I bought a SC10 4x4 last week. Went racing for the first time tonight with it. The truck was amazing. I had problems with my servo horn which ended my night in the first lap of the mains. While warming up, this truck was amazing. I still need to install the shock pistons. Can't believe it will only get better. LOL

Thanks again for what you do for this sport/hobby

Is it going to be difficult to drill a 58t into this Center diff? I have to run a low tooth count due to my 1415 Castle. Any help/suggestion?
