Learning from personal experience I agree with you. It's been the only motor so far I've ran in my 4x4, I've got plans for a upgrade, just looking at which one. Either Tekin, LRP or Team Epic's new one. Pretty much another sensored motor and keep my MMP ESC.
The 1410 4-pole has a a nice torque and is great for a tech track or small track but any long straights it lacks the top end.

Pro4 4600kV and never look back. This little motor is truely amazing, by far the best motor for a 4x4 sct.

Is there any kind of fitting issues with it?

Nope, typical 540 size but with 5mm shaft.

It's a 540 can and not a 550 can? WOW. Any heat issues with it?

Goto the Tekin Pro4 thread for more info. I run a 14t pinion, after 12mins motor temps around 165d. (esc= RX8)

Thanks for looking.

Terry

Nice job with the conversion. You will need a lot of weight on the right side if you want to balance it side to side. You can loop some string through the underbody mounts and hold it up. Then keep putting weight on the right side until balanced. I would keep the weight toward the rear half. A better way is to get some small scales (check e-bay $8 each) and put one under each wheel. As it is you probably will scream through left hand sweepers but roll easy on right hand turns.

I ended up ordering my vented slipper set from LiquidRC. $0.99 shipping... if you're not in a hurry...

K, so I ordered this slipper set on Sept 30 and it came in today...5 business days for $0.99....not bad!

I'm going to wait for my GaroDiscs to come in before I bother installing these...once I get all my slipper upgrades, I'll let you guys know how well they work together.

INGENIOUS! Why didn't I think of that?? :D

Now I just need to get some string that's fine enough....

Out of curiosity, what issues are you having with the stock slipper? Is it slipping too much, not enough? My stock slipper seems to work just fine on both high bite and medium traction tracks.

But I REFUSE to set foot inside stores that make people think I actually do something outdoorsy....and Walmart...bane of civilized people everywhere.

As for "slipper issues" I don't really think I have any....I like the way the truck drives, but there is a rhythm section that the 3 diff trucks can power through that the slipper trucks just can't...and as sad as it sounds, my 2wd SC10 that I've modded to remove all slippage can power through the rhythm section nicely. I wanted to try all these things that people say "solve" the "problem" just so that I could see what they were talking about...give me some tuning options... and if I can keep temps down at the same time, everything is happier!

There is no comparison between a stock slipper and a MTK slipper setup. MTK is like night and day difference. Acceleration on starts and out of turns is right there with shaft drive 4x4's.

If it was the same gearing then I can see why the 4.5 had more top speed....... I owned both the 4.5 and 5.5 and my castle 3800kv had way more torque and with the correct gearing I could keep up with either with no problem as well as have more torque then either...... Now my tekin pro4 is a whole diff. monster in itself :D
