Hopefully AE comes out with one.

what you don't think this has a race quality? i ran this truck all last year against losi and tekno and durangos. i won more race with this than they did and this is a large outdoor lose track. check the thread on new track in lake Geneva there is some videos in there some where. that will give you some type of an idea on what i run on. this is the stock kit not even the factory one i just got the kit upgrade and only put on the chassis brace and vts quad slipper set. and my choice of tires. even when the wife drive it she still come in the top 5 and she only race once and awhile for the last two years. i have seen the tekno car at first is was thinking got to get it but after looking at it and driving my buddy i don't want it no more. i cant see the cost different to run the same time as i did with the ft. but that is just my opinion and no im not a fan boy of any car i just like this one for a 4x4 at the moment. any car can win with the right driver you just got to learn how to setup and drive smooth. the ft is a great car as im sure the other are all great car to. i think it come down to a matter of what you want to spend. i picked up my kit second hand from a this site here for 150 last year in feb. just look around ask a lot of question and im sure you will find a price on what you looking for. now cain can give another one if feel up to it cause he driven both for a long time i think. i only tried it cause my buddy said the tecno way better but i just did not see where he coming from yet. and i have tried his many times. he one of the guy that got have the new stuff all the time.

I have read that you need the updated belt cover for it but since i'm getting a new rtr would it have the updated cover already? want to buy everything at once because of the good discounts they have this month. thanks for the input everyone, I have been studying this tread for hints and tips and have found it to be very informative without the bs most forums have.

If you buy the update pack, it will have all the stuff you want for the VTS 3 pad slipper conversion. I *think* they may have a combo that will include that for free too.

However, if your truck does not have the VTS Slipper, you may want to give the RC Shox Center Diff a look at that point if you are going to buy a VTS Slipper anyway in my opinion. Give the thread a look and see if it sounds like something that would work for you.

Honestly, if you have the ability to test drive before you buy, give that a shot. The truck is a great truck in my opinion, especially indoors but you just need to go in knowing that for certain conditions, it may not be ideal out of the box.

Just like the Tekno out of the box is not ideal for tight track indoors, and this is coming from someone who owns the truck and has owned the sc10 4x4.

Every vehicle has pluses and minuses, you just need to identify what you prefer, and go with that.

But, for those considering an SC10 4x4, unless you MUST have new, I would recommend finding a good used vehicle to save some dough if you are at all a person that trades off vehicles. Resale on the vehicles are not as good as other vehicles, which can be a good thing if you are buying, a bad thing if selling.

Sorry, didn't want to sound like I'm bashing the AE 4x4. I'm just not a fan of the belt drive system in 4x4 sct. I'd like to see AE ome out with a shaft drive 4x4 sct similar to the pro lite but not in rtr form. I've seen them run at my local track and they seem like a good truck.

i kinda came of strong i guess sorry was just trying to think of a good way to show what the truck can do. I did not take it as you bashing the truck at all neither. i have been looking for some video of me in driving the truck but cant find any. i can find the standing that i have from my rc site track that we go to and my wife is always seem to be in the top 5 with taking some number 3 spot. my kid which is 9 seem to stay in the top 3 spot along with me all with the ae and 4x4 and the 4 year old will he get my help but when i let him drive he lose when i drive with him he will win. I am very competitive so if this truck did not work for me it would be sitting somewhere or sold. i have buggy, truggy, and mt and two sct. all from other company i just picked up what i thought was the best for my tracks i go to. as you see when i go racing it racing and family time so it get kinda busy for me. or forgot to add we all do race the 4x4 but we all run it in different class ranking they are not all in expert just me thought. I only race the truck really when they tell me something need too be tuned then i race it a weekend. but i really focus on truggy ,buggy and mt. I hope you like what ever you by try and find a used car and get what ever you want for it and save some money cause you will need it for tires and battery and race days. i know that trust me cause i carry a miny hobby shop with me every time.

i also think the belt drive works very good i do not see any wear on mine or have i never had it snap on me or slip. but for the season on the truggy and buggy i had to change my center out at least 3 times for a shaft drive car. so i think the belt drive is very good. i was at one timed worried about it too but know i just check it here and there and forget about most of the times.

Nothing wrong with what you said. Some people don't like belts. To be honest I wasn't either but after running the vehicle it wasn't something that was a big deal to be honest.

If you really want a race level lite style vehicle but must have a shaft drive, you may want to give the new Caster SCT a try if AE doesn't have something you want.

But, I would say if you are open to it, doing an SC10 4x4 lite setup may be what you would like too.

Cain 11-30-2013 06:22 PM

imrob, do you have video of 4x4 SCTs on your track? looking at your track setup, the jumps look ideal for the sc10 4x4 as they are not monster big.

i did go and look at tower site i did find the rtr with the sc1200 i would think since it does not say it has the vts4 slipper pad it does not come with the updated hardware. so you would need to buy the up grade kit only if you choose to run the vts4 slipper setup cause it is wider so the slipper cover the had on the rtr or original version had to be made wider to fit the new vts4 slipper. and just a word of thinking here you might want to put you stuff in two orders to save the most money cause if you spend 300 to 350 you get fifty of that. and then order you chargers and battery. but for battery i would check out the smc they been holding fine for me all year in this truck. but here some prom codes for you if you dont have them already

no i never got around to it but this video is an older one. we did get some monster jumps and tripples in there that really send the car flying. I do go to other track that have much larger jumps like clarks, raceemrc which have a lot bigger tracks. but if you check out the vinney rc face book page you can see how the track got better as the year went on. there just not many video guy here at this one but it is the closet one to me. i wll look of another video that might show some of the newer track layout.

yes we have some very good tracks around here. i do want to try a bigger event someday but those are a really long trip. we do get some very good race going and it very competitive around here. i have 5 big track around me i guess all out side. with the farthest two track are with 3 hours drives. there are like 3 indoor but i don't race inside. winter time is rebuild time for me and research time if that make sense. i might try indoor this year though just to see how big of a pain it might be or easy.

look on the first page somewhere in there are some very good tips on how to build the car and what to look for. is there some kinda of problem you are having with yours now. you can not over tighten any screw. they just need to be snugged. if you crank on them you will get binding now matter what you do it only plastic not cast iron. i am just thinking this what your problem is cause everyone seem to do it. if not post up what is wrong. and if you don't have the manual there is one in the first page also. give it a read it very detailed info.
