Depends on the track you are running on, and how much power everyone else is.

I ran a 6.5 and a 5.5 540. The handling was great (much better than with the 4.5 550), but if you needed the snap off the corner to jump the "send it" triple they put right after the hairpin...

Lets just say you can't jump it and everyone else can. Expect to get run over - often. And you'll ABSOLUTELY need a fan. Ultimately, I bought a four pole.

The Hobbywing 4 pole is really nice. It has a nice power band, is about 3 ounces lighter than a 550, and has better torque. I'm a big fan.

The older chassis is very good but the FT version is definitely a little better in every way on the track. Converting to FT isn't worth it, better off buying it to begin with.

I have one of the original kits. I was preparing it to sell and as I was going through it I couldn't help remembering the last few times I ran it. It was getting dialed on the big tracks. So I decided to keep it. I have all sorts of tires. I upgraded the base kit with the FT upgrade kit(VTS, Brace, steering rack), RPM Arms, STRC pullies, Sway bars, FT Wheel hexes, C-Hub mode, and finally a mod for dual Shorty packs.

I guess it depends on what you like better. I prefer belt drive over the shaft drive Prolite.
Belt drive is quieter and smoother. I dont feel one has the advantage over the other.
Shaft drive is less maintenice, but I rather have a smoother truck over a louder truck.
Well countdown is immenent for me, im a mere 5-7 hours from ordering this truck.
Im exicted I hope it was as fun to put together as my factory team SC10 was.

If anyone is looking for a ready to go dialed truck I have mine listed for sale. Exotek chassis and parts, ball diff, FT kit and lots more. Asking $300 with an Airtronics servo.

Well, I might just get to race my truck for the first time in almost two months. Family, weather, holidays all getting in the way of racing but mainly the weather. We've been having nice days and then rain right before the weekend. Sunny and 50's tomorrow.

So now I get to see how the rebuild of the truck is. Finally!!!!!!! Have to get some practice in before the PNB.

Earlier in this thread I read about upgraded diff cases for the SC10 4x4. I can't seem to find these. Are they available from AE or are they after market upgrades made by someone else. Please let me know as I hate having to replace these cases on every rebuild if not more often. Thanks.

It's the same case just has steel bushings where the outdrives go in. Steel in place of the brass ones... same part number 91005.

I rather have the brass over the steel, and I can't see where that is going to make that much of a differance.

Kevin, thanks much for the info.

As for the question of why steel over brass, steel is much harder than brass
and brass bends easily, which why we are having these issues with the
diff. But I believe that brass is smoother than steel allowing for smoother
movement where the out drive enters the diff case, but over application of
green slime should take care of that.

No, all I have is the stock springs. I do believe I have some extra stockers from a parts roller. I was going to order the blue rears or should I order the blue fronts? Are there any other springs you recommend I order?

Thanks Cain
