I made mine on a mill, but if you have a have a caliper you can make yours easy enough with 80'grit sandpaper.
Measure the bearing, measure the housing, lay the sandpaper on something flat, and sand away till you get the housing reduced by the width of the bearing. I advise you start with new housings. You will find I'm a max performance/minimum bucks kind of guy. |
associated has changed the inserts for the diff gear from brass to steel.

Just got yesterday , still have to install though .... Big improvement ... |
a other question,do the ft kits have the hole in the frame for saddle pack convertion and for the diff houssing do i need to add a other shim off 0.2mm are just one 0.2mm?
sorry english is not my primary language!! |
factory team kit comes with the saddle pack conversion.
As for the 8mm mod ... Give it a try yourself and see what you think. I and others have found that it increases rear traction. The inner ball stud position in my opinion is what when doing the 8mm mod cuts down on the traction rolling that this can cause. If you are traction rolling and want that to stop, try raising the rear inner ball stud FIRST before the mod. But, that is my opinion, give it a shot yourself and see. |
I'm sure this is here some where but...I just picked up one of these from a guy at the track and I am wondering what tools I need. Seems nothing from my ft sc10 crosses over. :( What sizes are the most common tha I should get first?
Thanks, Mark |
Visit the first post of this thread Mark. Old but good info. there. The tools are ALL metric and listed on the first post.

In my opinion the truck as a stocker has a very high roll center. This makes the truck unpredictable and darty, especially during rough sections of a track. You can very easily over drive it if you have a less than smooth throttle finger. Often I'd ask for way more than the truck was willing to give me, usually resulting in a traction roll or crash. After the +8mm camber mod, the rear is way more planted and I can drive the truck a lot harder-I mean ALOT harder. It's way more forgiving, and let's you charge the jumps more aggressively. Not to mention I picked up almost a full sec per lap.
Anyone ever heard an AE truck go by while marshalling that was whisper quiet? I'm trying to get mine to quiet down. I think the drivetrain by nature is not too noisy, so what's the secret? I'm running a fantom 6.5 with a Novak havoc pro sc. It's the motors I think that make all the noise in these trucks, I just bought a reedy sonic 5.5 thinking it'd be quiet, but still sounds like a meat grinder. What's the smoothest motor out there that'll make this thing whisper quiet. Any ideas? Thanks. |
I think you should go the opposite direction maybe.. Go as loud as possible to scare people out of the way. You could be the "intimidator" lol ;)

Mine is whisper quiet. I have a full set of ceramic bearings, even in my RC Shox center diff mod. I have also used a product called jigaloo on all the metal surfaces to smooth out the friction, the plastics are sprayed with it too. Its a dry film spray lube. Awesome stuff.

Taking apart a pro4 for the first time. Is this some sort of balancing putty or compacted dust on the inside lip of the rotor?
