So a mugen? How do you mount the body? Do you have to add custom mounts to the tower or something

Yeah, scte body mounts and t-bone or scte bumpers. Heard of some using our trucks mounts. There is a bunch of guys converting the mbx6, but not the 5... it's so old. The 5 has narrower arms than the 6 so I don't think I have to shorten them like the guys running the 6. They have to take 5mm off. I will see once my DE wheels get here.

Defiantly a work in progress, but it was sitting on the shelf and I had the electronics to get it going, so why not

60grams is not actually a huge ammount, its just a little over 2 ounces. you may really like it either way. gotta just try it out.
but the number 60 sounds large
Thanks man.. I got my eyes peeled and I'll go from there.

Fq06,
Do the 5 and 6 share a lot of parts?
What mm hex are the wheels? Did you convert?

Not a lot, but you can still get parts for the 5. I have a butt load of spares from when I raced nitro years ago too.
DE racing 17mm hex zero offset rims. Same as the SC8 runs.
Converting to roar approved width and 1/10 electronics... need to put it on a diet sooner or later but it's the same weight as the 6 and their running 1/10 power without cooking things.

Guy at my local track runs one and he said it is missing a little bit of punch compared to true 1/10 sct but the stability and traction more than make up for it. At the super nationals he was not sponsored and got up to B main with it... with some talent too.

Should have it completed by next week
Still love my AE and will continue to drive it, but didn't want the mugen to go on with it's life sitting on the shelf

So I'm starting to love it out here now that I got my SC10 4x4 dialed. I miss 1/8 E-Buggy a lot, but this is keeping me busy and giving me the 4x4 fix I like from the buggy.

Things I've done to it:

RC-Shox center ball diff (WOW this makes it fly and drive so much better)
+8mm mod using B4.1 carbon hub towers. Exotek rear aluminum hubs in the mail to make it a bit more clean.
Associated saddle pack conversion and carbon center brace.
Hacker 4 pole 5.5 motor. SUPER fast motor!!!

I just got back from the track, sorry for the dirt in the pics, but if its not dirty its not running right?

Very nice Truck, Acill. Very modest as well. Mine hasn't looked like that in over a year. It's all bling'd and FT'd. I miss those days, but you've got what you need.

We have no 1/8 racing around here. My RC8.2e has dust on it.

Has anyone tried to make a selfmade centerdiff like the one from marcus? I mean with a modified Spur-gear, stock-slipperhubs and selfmade cdiff-rings?

Good luck with that. The precision required would be impossible to do by hand.

Oh, wait. I see you're German. You could probably do it!

The diff-rings would be no problem, i have acces to a laser. The Diffballs would come from a shop, just the holes in the Spur gear would be drilled by hand

The first version Marcus made was just the balls. From what I understand there was not enough drive out of it, diff'd too much probably.
Version 2 introduced small pins that sit next to the balls to lock it in a bit more. You can add or remove pins depending on what kind of diff action you want out of it.
Ross (gone to scte) made one and I don't think he was ever really happy with it.
You need the pins and a very large expensive machine to do it with.

Take a look at rcshox site and you can see pics of the spur and the machining needed.

Outside of the RC Shox setup, I would be curious to see someone make an actual oil filled center diff option. Not sure how feesible it would be though ...

Oh, I contacted Exotek recently to see if they would be interested in making some mounts to fit shorty lipos on the chassis ...
