and here I thought it was a new hop up ...

Are you guys using double sided tape or some other solution to hold down your electronics? If double sided tape, which ones are you using? I could hardly go a whole day at the track without my ESC coming loose from the double sided tape.

I use this stuff:

Very impressed. works well even doubling it up to give some cushion for the ESC. Make sure you have a clean surface regardless of the tape you use, a quick swipe with an alcohol wipe works great. Or a blast of grease remover.

+1. I had the same problem . . .when I first assembled the truck I just slapped the esc in there and it came off quickly. Went home, carefully cleaned bottom of esc and chassis with a bit or rubbing alcohol (not necessarily the best cleanser) and have not had problems since. I use the same stuff Cain linked.

I use this stuff, yeah it's expensive but to me anything that will help keep my rx8 or other esc's from suffering bad crashes or landing's is a good thing:

Cody227 09-21-2012 08:14 AM

lol, i use tesa power strips and it works very well even when the esc is not 100% clean.

Cain 09-21-2012 08:28 AM

the RX8s at least from I see posted as the common reported problem definitely can benefit from some cushioning, nice find on the kyosho stuff.

I'm one of the few people still using the RX/Transponder tray....I drilled some holes through the tray large enough for zip ties, and my RX8 has a sheet of some rubbery padding that apparetly is used often in helicopters and planes between it and the tray, then the zip ties hold it all to the tray. I have the cushioning of the tray AND the rubber pad, and there is NO way that my ESX is going anywhere.

I use 3m outdoor mounting tape. It's $15 for a roll that is 15 YARDS long at Home Depot or Lowes, stays on for as long as you want it, and when it comes time to remove it, comes off in one piece.

And if you want some booster gear to sport at the next Cumming Elementary flag football game, here's your spot. Go Cougars!

Haven't lost a piece of radio gear in years.

I have been using the 3M VHB clear tape. I am able to pick it up where I work at when the shelf life on it passes, which means I can score a case of it at a time . Even though it has exp. to my company it works perfect. I just gave away my last roll (250ft) which lasts some time. If anybody wants whenever get more I will put something up if anybody wants some ;)

Kyosho makes a thick double side tape that is awesome. Helps protect the electronics from shock. Very sticky too.

DE Racing has just released some new wheels for the SC10 4x4.

DE Racing "Borrego" SC

DE Racing is proud to introduce the first true dish wheel for the Short Course market. Modeled after our 1/10 buggy line, "Borrego" wheels feature the realistic scale appearance of a beadlock wheel with mud cover. They were also designed for use with our optional sticker disks to give a new level of color customizing.

These wheels aren't just another pretty product promising performance. This is a new stronger wheel designed from the ground up for the rigors of Short Course racing. Thicker wall sections, deeper support ribs, tighter/stronger hexes, and a dish face protected by a simulated beadlock ring make these wheels the strongest on the market. Go ahead, mount a set on your SCT and dish out some abuse, they can take it!

Features:

• Realistic scale appearance of a beadlock wheel with a mud cover
• 12 internal radial ribs, and thicker wall sections for ultra high strength
• Tighter and stronger hexes for greater reliability

Nice, I'll be picking up a set or two when I get back into 4x4's....... Will they be available in yellow in the near future?

ryanpatrickgore 09-21-2012 12:43 PM

Cool wheels.

I just use the Parma doubled up for my Esc, single layer for everything else

Maddog94 09-21-2012 12:53 PM

Sorry, not a fan of the dish wheels at all, especially SCT where the trucks are very realistic looking. Kills the look for me.
