I was trying to being "Sarcastic" with the "Pro Drivers" terminology. I don't know what they use.
I do know there are several post in this thread alone about hot 550's and more and more Rx8's running 1410's after they toasted a 550 can.
They barley fit in the chassis and we still get the hot motor questions and fan mods????
Why is Tekin now making a 4-pole 540 sensored motor now? Is it for 1/8 scale? I believe not.

I am pretty new to 10th scale, have the new truck, and so far I am getting frustrated with the power system I bought, here's what I am using, RX8 ESC, Novak 550 5.5t Ballistic, running 2 cell, quality packs, using stock rotor, and stock spur 62, have put a 17t as my pinion, and the truck is a dog, followed all specs on build, took my time, just need to know if some of you other guys are using this combo, or motor anyway, what are you gearing, need power for racing.....
About to buy the Tekin 4.5,

Yea, I definitely am thinking I have a motor issue, I have calculated all the roll out ratios and done my homework on what to use, 17 should be fast, I always turn my endpoints down on my m11x, but for this I have everything up to max, even the braking is crap, I have my brakes on the rx8 at 55%, and I always have to turn my endpoints down on my radio, but for this setup I have my endpoint for the brake at 100% and it brakes slow, guess I am going to send this motor back, rx8 is brand new, just frustrated

The novak 5.5(3400kv) 17/62 should be similar to the castle 1410 (3800kv) 15/62

No , about 120 on motor, and 100 on rx8, just tested on street, but ran it for about 12 MIN, running hard, I am thinking I have a motor problem, the motor had a 14mm rotor in it, and I put the stock one back in today, 14mm just too low KV for the 5.5, I did the rotor exchange to SOP, is it possible I could have damaged the motor changing it out??? I'm sure it's possible, but LIKELY??? I put card stock in the radius, and did it carefully, made sure the shims were good, little slop on the rotor, turned freely, ERRRRRRRRRR

hey fellow four wheelers.
I'd like to share my setup with the class!! please keep in mind that I have not raced this truck yet, but had a few track sessions to get this far.
shocks: 45 front, 35 rear, stock pistons.
diffs: 10k front, 3 k rear
clicker locked.
castle sidewinder sct and 1410, 3800 Kv geared with stock 48p spur and 18t pinion. motor temps at 160 after 20 minutes or more. (castle cust support has confirmed this is good temps for 5700 2 pole. can someone advise for the four pole?) esc temps at 100-105.
subcultures
four ballstud washers on front
3-4 deg negative camber on rear.
slight toe out on front.
track is prepared packed clay, near blue groove in some areas. short and tight.
ride height 1 inch front, < 1 inch rear.
results: as I stated, I don't have any race time. just practice time. the truck was traction rolling pretty bad until i got to 4 ballstud washers. it feels fast and handles like it is on rails. Once my schedule clears a bit, I'll race it and advise.
Where would i go about getting music wire to fab some swaybars?
I have forgotten that I have a t4.... for the time being.
Ben

Well with the high torqu 14mm rotor i could see why it is slow, you lose almost 1200kv, so you would be around 2250kv, and in that case you would need like a 25t pinion lol. But with the stock rotor is should be money. There has to be something going on with the motor ar esc.
Yea, thanks bro, agree

wow a 18T pinion on the 62 spur on a short and tight track..
I would go for a 13T or a 14 T. better acceleration,
I think that with a 18T pinion on a short and tight track you have to much topspeed that you wil not be using.

FWIW ill share a little today . Ok so Ive been really happy with my castle SCT system (other then the crappy switch) Im getting about 20 minutes of run time with a 5200mah 2s zippy lipo and I run it HARD . Its geared 16/62 (thats the stock spur size I think) . I don't usually have any problems with heat until last night . I was running around the park behind my house and it started acting weird and wouldnt go forward sometimes. Right away I thought it was the switch acting up again but upon further inspection I realized the fan I mounted on the ESC wasnt running and the ESC was pretty hot so I belive it was thermaling. I took the fan off and found a tiny little pebble caught in the fan .I cleaned it out re installed it and took it for a spin and all was well again. I guess what im trying to say is the SCT kit works really well but its crucial that the fan is mounted on the ESC and functioning properly . Rick
BTW this truck hauls butt it wont wheelie unless im on the gas and go over a bump but its wayy faster then I can drive it !!
