Does roar matter to you? And you might get better support with tekin as tenshock is Chinese I believe.

ROAR doesn't matter to me. Only a club racer. Just about everyone else in that class runs Losi's. There are ony 2 or 3 other guys there that run SC10's. I know alot of em run the Tekin Pro4's. I don't know of anyone at my track that runs Tenshocks. With the support I'd get from Tekin (and have already got on my RX8) and the knowledge of guys with them at my track, I'm leaning towards the Pro4.

Both motors are really good, I have the tenshock sc411 4600kv and it is a beast of a motor! From what I can tell (no electrical engineer) they are built very well and well worth the money. If I had unlimited funds I would probably have gotten the Pro4 but I am trying to stay on somewhat of a budget so I opted to go with the cheaper option. I previously ran an SC4x 4.5t and no matter what I did that thing didnt have half the rip of the Tenshock.

I actually still push a little, but it jumps and accelerates amazing. I did some math and found a couple balanced spring combos:
Yellow outside/ FBlue inside
Blue outside/ FWhite inside
White outside/ FGreen inside (way to soft but you get the idea)

I feel a balanced spring makes the car overall just better.

I don't understand what you mean here when you say inside outside.
Could you simplify your discription for me please.
Cheers

Wildcat1971 07-26-2012 02:13 PM

lol, I never understood it either. I guess he runs 8 springs.

Snafujg 07-26-2012 02:21 PM

Probably Inside/Outside hole on the arm where the shock mounts. Guessing:
Front spring Yellow on outside hole, Back spring is a Front Blue on the Inside hole

Evil Genius jr. 07-26-2012 02:22 PM

Yup!
Sorry for not clarifying. Middle on tower both f/r.

Beachbuggyphil 07-26-2012 02:35 PM

Ok, I'm running blue ft and ft white rear. Putting them in those bottom holes gives a balanced car?
Cool. Thanks.

I tried putting 60g of weight in the front as per an AE setup sheet and the rear wheels would leave the floor when I braked plus it nosed dived like a bitch on any jumps.
I don't have any scales but could someone that's got similar electronics post up what weight they added please.
No exotek chassis, Tenshock motor and a 120a hobbywing speedo on the other side with FT saddle pack batteries.
Thank you.

Same experience. I had the sc4x 4.5 and it was pretty quick.
I started getting beat by the pro4's but didn't want to spend the $ on one.

Tenshock came to the us and I picked up a 4600. Holey smokes! That thing rips.
well worth the $ IMO and only the 1/8 scales can out run me on the straights... and barely.

To the other post, to my knowledge, Tenshock's are manufactured in Germany and distributed from China.

Evil Genius jr. 07-26-2012 02:38 PM

Well, Using my math (just a formula I got offline so It could be wrong, measurements are correct.)
A Blue spring up front on the outside hole gives a wheel rate of: 1.267 lbs/in.
A White spring in the rear on the inside hole gives a wheel rate of: 1.289 lbs/in.

Wildcat1971 07-26-2012 02:39 PM

That does not make a lot of sense. Designed in Germany and build in china would make more sense. I have no idea how any of you can even handle that power. I have a tekin 4.5 and it spins 4 wheels everywhere.

Maybe it is built in China, not surebut from what I can tell it is manufactured in Germany.
All things RC come from China so maybe that was their thinking on distributing from there???

This truck absolutely handles the power. Outdoor & indoor... need to be a little easier on the throttle outdoor, indoor, punch it!

Wrong tires for the track, 4 wheel spinning. Correct tires, 4 wheels scrubbing :D

I love my Tenshock.. Power is very manageable to me. Closest thing I have found to the Jp mod motors I used to run in Truggy.
