When building a kit or installing a new plastic part, I always use a tap. Not always necessary, but a tap cuts a nice thread in the plastic. Much better than you can cut with a screw. Not always necessary, but I do it anyway. You can always strip out the plastic, taping does not make it bullet proof against over tightening, but I find the plastic will go longer and it's definitely easier to run the first screw in.

I did that back in my 8th scale days, because the holes were very tight, but I always believed the tap took out too much and the hole didnt last as long. imo.

ft sc104x4.. bout to buy one...

What parts beyond the kit should I get with it? If you started over what would you do?BB shocks? tires? motor? Is the mmp good enough esc or should I keep that in the 2wd and buy something else?

Thanks..

Is it me, or can anyone else get to the last page listed? I click the ">" or the next page number, in this case 1712 link and it brings me back to page 1711. Tried on work and home PC, so I don't think it is a computer issue.

Eradicator 06-26-2012 07:30 PM

Hmmmm, I see it made me the first post on page 1712. The issue was not only with page 1712, it did it too me at work around lunch time.....

Have you read this thread? and if you have why on earth would you buy one....
But if your hearts set on one..the first hop up would be the RC Shox center diff..and raising the rear camber 8mm..

Don't listen to him, if you want to buy the FT SC10 then go for it..............

There is alot of great info. on this thread if you search, however some great hopups are:

Tires, tires, tires (for the track your running at if you race)
Exotek Inner hub if you stick with the FT stock slipper setup
RCshox center diff if you plan on switching out from using slipper pads
RCshox 2 stage pistons
Shims for the diff's as well as ballstud mod
Camber mod
Other then that your good to go, you can upgrade as you go and dial in the sct......

Like ilanstylz said, don't listen to the feisty little kitten Oasis, he's been pretty out of shape for a while now.

If you're truly interested in the truck, go for it. There are a lot of great 4x's out there, this one is a great one. One of the things that I have really enjoyed is doing some of the mods that our fellow sc10 4x4 drivers have come up with. If you're not into that, it's still a very fun truck. As its been mentioned before, attempt to use the search function and if it doesn't produce the info your looking for, feel free to ask. There are a lot of very helpful drivers that are more than willing to share what their doing with their rigs that are producing promising performance gains.

Oh, and welcome to the sc10 4x group!

Seriously if you have nothing to contribute other than coming in here once or twice a week and saying how bad this truck is then just dont come in here anymore. Your post are useless and we all know how you feel about it already so what are you accomplishing? Should I go in the Losi thread and tell people they shouldnt buy it all the time because I like this truck better?

Seriously this truck is a solid platform to race with, it does take some tuning but honestly most of the hard work has already been done. Take what others have learned and apply it to your truck, then tune to suit your track and driving style and have fun racing something that turns.

Does anybody do the emulsion style shock set-up with the
Rcshox 2 stage pistons?

Keep in mind the ride height is measured at the center chassis in front of the rear wheel and behind the front wheel. If you measure 23 mm at the very back below the rear diff the center section of the chassis will be way too low.

*measure from ft & back center chassis

*24mm is standard height or med

*Higher traction =lower ride height

*Less traction = higher ride height

rear height
22.5mm max low
25 mm high

ft height
23 low
25 high

Thanks guys for the info!! I've got the Losi ride height gauge and have a hard time getting it under the front and rear bumpers. Should i measure from a different angle? Any suggestions?

dakotafroader 06-26-2012 09:21 PM

Measure from the sides, just behind the front tires and in front of the rears
