It doesn't look to be as overbuilt as the RX8.
I'd try contacting the manufacturer, or at least be monitor temps closely and adjust gearing to stay safe.

It's rated at 400amps, but with a 3.5turn motor limit...
I can't think whether the limit is to not go higher or lower than 3.5, but I think you are supposed to not go higher.
You are proposing a Ballistic 6.5, I think there may be a problem.

Nope..your not suppose to go lower than a 3.5..a 6.5 is ok as far as limit goes..

Yeah, the bigger worry might be the esc's inability to dissipate heat though. The TC Spec version is recommended for 4x4 trucks.

Yeah I have been very curious about how the temps would be. I have ran an 6.5 in my b4 without an issue but I was worried about the additional weight. Any suggestions on a cheap speedo that would run the ballistic 550 motors?

I'm pretty sure you could use a Speed Passion GT2.0 going for $90 right now. Double-check, though by PMing someone who runs them (you can see a bunch in the sigs in this thread, I think) or by checking info in the Speed Passion thread. Of course, Novak's Havoc Pro SC w/ X-drive at $140 can run them.

I've used a 5.5t ballistic 540 motor paired with a kinetic in the past which is basically the same as a havoc pro sc. I ended up using the stock 48 pitch spur and a 13t pinion. The havoc pro SC with fan installed will fit under belt. Definitely a solid setup to consider.

I used to have a gtb... Burnt it up I think running the 550. I thought that it could run it but it couldn't I guess. It said any Novak motor but I guess it was only 540's.

Note, the SXX TC Spec WITH a fan is what AE has many team drivers running in their 4x4...

Honestly, I think the SPX would do it if you put a good fan on it.

HK's 150A 8th scale speedo or their 120A "car" speedo are pretty darn cheap....it would get you through until you can get an RX8.

what is the benefit of the 19T front pully over the stock 20T pully ?
in what situations do you prefer the 19T over the 20T ?

These are why my the lap times have improved..

VTS Slipper
Ae chassis brace ( stiffer than my homemade brace)
8mm rear hub mod
Team steering rack ( really improves the feel & steering response)
JConcepts pressure points tires
Kody's latest JConcept set-up
RPM arms
JConcept High Flow body
Reedy 4.5 550
Team Li-po tray ( stiffer chassis)

the 8mm rear hub mod, i dont know the ins and outs of this but is it to lower the roll center ?

ive raised my inner ball studs by 3mm and that helped. im curious about this mod and what it does. time to search.

I'm like you , just learning to understand the technical ....
Believe it raises the roll center not lower .

8mm mod is
better for bumps , better initial grip, less roll and likes the Sc10 rear yellow spring ....
