Nope, haven't had any drive train issues since installing the center diff.

I think AE bet on the wrong horse for solving the slipper issue. (no offense MTK!)

would front and rear sway bars be needed?

K. Like I said, not perfect. Would my statement be in the ball park, IF the truck had a normal drivetrain?

Sort of. The problem isn't the drivetrain, it's how you are describing the weight transfer. All those things you mention would work and be correct right up to the point where you have enough weight transfer to lift a tire (or tires). Once you do that, there is no more weight to transfer.

The decoupled slipper biases torque (by slipping) to the wheels with the most weight transferred to them (wheelies on hard acceleration).

The Mantisworks V1 ball diff worked is to bias torque the opposite way by putting maximum torque to the axle with the least weight transferred to it (ballons the front tires under hard acceleration).

The pin modification (coupled slipper) splits torque evenly and does not bias.

The Mantisworks V2 ball diff allows the user to change the number of pins to control how much you bias it to the front, which puts it somewhere between the pin mod and the V1 ball diff under power.

Have you tried the new Ae v2 slipper yet ?;)

Just reading this makes me humble. I've been through all of that and I fkn loved tuning on it each time. as soon as the v2 center diff gets here, i'll have gone full circle.

8 out of 10 trucks in the main at the Cactus are three diff trucks. :tire:

Slashdrivr 03-24-2012 10:07 PM

Are the steel bushed diff cases a running change or a whole new part number?

Looking to replace diffs on both mine and the kid's truck before outdoor season gets rolling...:tire:

They aren't out yet, AE is still working on them. Don't bet on it anytime soon.
