+1 . As long as the vehicle is meeting the dimension requirements, it can be legal.

Personally, I am not sure how they could really police it any other way as then you get into splitting hairs on how much of a "change" is present in the vehicle for it not to be considered a conversion? I mean technically, since losi has that 1/8 810 buggy that they call 1/8 scale and the SCTE appears to share alot of stuff with it, someone could argue its a "conversion" of a 1/8.


I am very curious to see how the ground up 4x4 SCTs are going to be able to complete with the 1/8 buggy based 4x4 SCTs.

If the whole SC104x4 thing doesn't work out, wouldn't be surprised to see an RC8 based one in the future.

A lot of people are making RC8 based ones, there's a thread for it on this forum somewhere. Basically they are buying the SC8 and changing the chassis to an RC8. Milling the hubs down, getting it with in spec.

I attached a link to the "type" of surface I will be running on in a couple weeks. The layout wont be the same but any advice where to start with a setup would be greatly appreciated. The 1/10 SC's will be sharing the track with the 8 scales so the track will end up getting blown out real quick.

I'd start with getting as much droop as you can, that will help a lot. Tire choice will be huge.

My buddy that goes to that race every year said he really liked City Blocks on SC. From Pro-Line I'd probably go with Gladiators or Blowfighters. Maybe even Blockades if it grooves up at all. :)

I have been following this whole thread. I own a sc104x4. I see a trend, this vehicle is excellent as a light nimble truck for tight small courses. It does not appear to excel at competing on the 1/8 scale big tracks against 1/8 scale based sc trucks. If the situation requires a precise torque wrench, you do not use a breaker bar, and vice versa. For best results, use the right tool for the job.:tire:

You can re-engineer it all you want, and kudos to any success you have doing so. But in the end, is it going to be cost effective to replace half the truck with custom pieces in order to correct a design deficiency or limitation(perceived or real). Is it really that great of a product if so many revisions are needed to make it competitive?

Potentially, but I guess the motor would provide the resistance to the rear of the truck? Perhaps balancing each other out?

If the diff sends power to the point of least resistance and the vehicle is in the air, would that mean that front and rear would get power close to equally?

Yes orion r10 pro works good, i run it with a 4 pole tenshock motor and it never gets hot or anything, great esc imo

Yes all the team Orion guys except Cav uses it in their SC 4 wheeler.

I ended up going inside on the arms for more droop, it really helped a lot on rough tracks. :)

It uses the Xray 808 drive train, shocks, and hub carriers. The shock towers, suspension arms, chassis layout and a few other things is WBD. The truck does carry more weight but seems everyone is looking for that anyway. Seems to turn very well and with all the weight and 16mm shocks I bet long triples are not a problems either. :sneaky:

They are still working out kit details but it is supposed to be sold as a kit and a possible conversion too.
