Hi. I love your thread and used it in my 22 build. I found the stock screws to b soft and at risk of stripping the head with the 2mm hex sockets. I made up some strong screw kits (all black steel or black/stainless mix) that include special options, such as a few lengths of flatheads for the front kickup. They are at my webstore that I made for them at gammarc.com:

Default team losi 22 what gear to get

Hey guys im building a 22, and looking for advice for what servo/motor/esc to get for it.

I had a team losi xxx bk2 a few years ago running a futuba servo around 14kgs/.10 and a lrp competition 2 esc and i think around a 9 turn motor.

It used to run well and handle great. basically i want racing spec gear and have about $1000 to play with.

So i was looking at getting:

lrp - sxx comp ver 2 esc
lrp vector x12 (around 5.5)
team orion - Vortex Digital Servo VDS-1409

and radio i was looking at

Futaba 2pl 2.4g Fhss Sport Tx / R603gf Rx N

what do you think of this setup? has anyone got a similar setup or any adivce on these parts is appreciated.

Thanks

Better asked in the official 22 forum...

A 5.5 LRP is way too much motor. If you want to run LRP go 8.5 at the most.

I'd highly recommend the new Orion R10 Pro 2s-3s ESC. Amazing speedo. Really smooth. It's also what Losi's top three drivers use. The new Orion VST Pro motors are also really fast. Evans uses a 7.5 but most guys would be in the 8.5 - 10.5 range.

Futaba makes great radios. I like the KO Propo EX-10 EURUS because it has a really good feel and a lot of comfort adjustments. The Spektrum DX3R Pro is also nice.

Default Super!!!!

Awesome job man!!! Glad I read it as I am ordering my son a new 22B!!

Will you be doing one on the 22T? That is what I am getting and something like this would be helpful.

Thanks again for your time and effort to put this together!!!

Default Thanks!!!

This guide really helped when it came to building Tyler's 22!!!

One thing I found and would like to share with you to add to this guide if you want is:

Spektrum 6040S SERVO only needs 1mm of shim. Manual calls for 2.5mm and the link ends up not parrallel to the steering rack. 1mm and it is nice!!

Thanks again!!!

Bump for the 22T- I'm sure most things will still be true. I know TLR did fix some of the 22s original bugs.
