I am gonna try out the 4000kv motor with the SC10, Im thinking that it may handle the 3500/4000kv versions.

I can't remember to be honest. I think at least one of them came from overseas and at least one of them came from a retailer here in the US.

Mine gets quite warm with a 13t, warm enough that I'd use a fan for sure. With a 12t, it's mid 150's.

It is ridiculously ballistic with the 13t though, may be going that route for outdoors
Youre right man! I started of with 14T and it reaches 210F! Its a big outdoor tracks Im running. I borrowed a12t pinion from a friend and it still hot at 185F, But one thing I noticed, Its still wicked fast after reducing 2 teeth. I'll be trying 12t and 11t next time. BTW, whats youre timing on the speedo? TIA!

Seems like the 4000kv would be a better option for the heavier losi trucks.

Zero timing. No drag brake. No current limiting

If the weather would clear up, I'd get to try it outdoors properly, lol. But it looks like rain all dang weekend. I'd love to be able to give you some more info but it's a quagmire here, and looks to be for the forseable future

You could try the current limiter deal, see if that helps. Reduce timing, reduce excessive braking, etc, to shave a few degrees too.

Even at 210, if you threw a fan on there, that would get you down to 165 or so, which isn't too bad at all. Worth it for the speed, which is wicked fast for sure Even with the 12t, it's faster than any 550 top end wise that I've tried that was even close to feasable temp wise. I usually hate running fans because they are less than reliable in the dirt, but this is one motor I'd be willing to do that for. And, if you ever melt it down, you are only out half what a new "domestic brand" motor is. I'll run it on the ragged edge of failure all summer if it gets me wins

My friends that are running Tekins and Novaks are all having far worse heat problems with their limited testing outdoors, and from running the prototype truck last year outdoors, I know for a fact they are not going as fast I know of a few Tekins that have been over 230* trying to get them close to fast Looks like everyone will be running fans this summer, better stock up on some before the mad rush, lmao.

Perhaps, but it's too early to tell at this point. More testing to be done before that call is made.

Rain here also so no trying out the 4600kv in a Nexx SC, Kinda bummed about that.

Have seen temps like that in my Slash 4x4 but I was using 16/17t pinion and trying to set world speed records in a parking lot

Looks also nice and clean on my Losi SCTE.

hey~~~which brand of the pinion you're using ??? it looks good~~~
i got a 5200kv to run later

i ran my 4000kv in my scte today with a 15t and it rips, ran about 185 at cutoff with a 5800mah 60c pack and 10deg of timing on the speedo. I think if I take the timing out or drop to a 14t it would be completely safe temps. The motor is awesome though seems to have a little more bottom end than the 1410 castle motor I took out with the same gearing. I can't wait for the outdoor tracks to open, this is surely going to be the motor I run all summer.

Glad its working good for you in the SCTE, All these temp issues with that truck are driving me crazy and I dont even have one.
