No, and you don't need that big arse speed control either, but since you bought it it will work fine. Go back and read my last few posts. I put a dinky castle 3800 four pole in mine with 2S on a freaking huge 1/8 scale track. We have a former member of the Worlds 1/8 scale team that races here and the lap times for those guys are barely under 50 seconds. This is as big a track with as huge of double jumps that if cased will send you off the track as any of you are likely to race on. That little motor pushed my truck like it was nothing. I could make the doubles that I couldn't before with my 550 motor. I was able to win the main with it against pretty much everyone else running big motors. The little castle stayed cool and I made a 10 minute main with battery to spare.

You guys really don't need these eighth scale speedos and motors.

I recommend the RX8 over anything else. It's the best worry free ESC for this application.

Yes the 3800 works great.

So is everyone running the 2s with the castle 3800? Has anyone ran it on 3s? Thought my 3mm sleeve would be here today but I'm sure it will be here tomorrow. Glad I traded my Novak 5.5t 540 for the sidewinder esc and the castle 3800 motor. Thanks to RCtech trader area, also where I sold the ESC for more than I paid for the Novak lol Love free Castle motors!!. Also so everyone is running 14 tooth with the 3800? Has anyone tried the 15 or 16 tooth are temps still ok?Also question about maintenance how often do I need to clean the bearings? What is everyone using to lube them?

15t with typical tires and bloat is about 37mph, 16t is around 39mph figuring .25 tire bloat with and to be honest bloat I'd guess is closer to .5" so your looking at 40 and 43mph. Yes people are doing it, and yes with good results. If you plan on pushing 3s lipo best gear down (11,12t range). All setting in ESC to min though.

I'm thinking I need an 810 body for under mine.. LOL I went to one of the local outdoor tracks on sunday and 'just watched'. It was only a practice day, but I couldn't bear the thought of hours of cleaning for a little practice, still too muddy for me..
