Got the Viper Copperhead installed. Really nice esc, very well built. Running R45 motor geared 14t
If this system is as durable, it will seriously be a steal at $150+-

OK been running an LRP TC v2 and a Tekin 4.5 and 13t pinion radio turned down to 84% (we run a very small indoor) and temps after 8min main were about 135*motor and 95* speedo. Well swapped in the 4000 4pole with a 14t pinion and turned the radio up but no other changes and temps shot up to 170* speedo still under 100* tried a 13t and 15t and temps about the same?? Where should this motor be geared? Almost want my 4.5 back but was hoping this motor was smoother and easier to drive.

Next I got an Orion 10Rpro to try but was hoping to figure this out before swapping more problems.

Which one of the 4poles are you running? Turn down any timing on the speedo, that will reduce temps without really affecting performance.

I am picking up a SCTE for my LHS tomorrow. I have decided on the Motor and ESC combo well sort of. Have to decide between a Tekin Pro4 4000kv or 4600kv with a RX8 ESC. The thing I have to decide on is a servo for it.

So I thought I would ask the people with a good knowledge of this to see what do they recommend to be a good servo for this I have been thinking of a Savox or Spektrum model but not sure what torque rating I would need.

Thanks

The 1258 seems to be the most popular, that has the same specs as the spektrum 6040, 166oz-in@6V. Between those two motors I would choose the 4600 since most report it running cooler then the 4000.

Your set-up is identical to the set-up im using right now. Just purchased the Savox 1258 ( .08 / 167 oz. ) for my set-up. I had two servos to choose from. The 1257 ( .07 / 139 oz. ) and the 1258. Both were the same price at my LHS, so I decided on the 1258 because of it's higher torque reading.

Mines hasn't come in yet but I have a 1258 to drop in already for when it gets here, I've had really good luck with Savox servos and their customer service.

I run a Team Orion VDS-1007 in mine and it's 138oz / 0.07 and it has no problems even though everyone at my track told me I needed 200oz of torque.
