Frank or Casper

On Dustin's setup sheet it says short lipo in forward position but on this forum we have been told 3 pads front 2 rear. Is there any chance he had his battery tray in the farther back position? I think with the tray in the rear position you would still get 2 battery foams behind the battery but the front would be against the battery tray? Is this right?

By the time you're done tinkering...the guy with the LRP already has more track time than you with an already dialed setup. Either way Im trying a speed passion esc just to see how it feels because I heard its pretty smooth, if it feels like a tekin its getn junked and Im droppin the LRP right back in. I just like the program card feature. I used to have a hobbywing esc and the program card is so easy to use. We'll see how it goes.

sounds like you change speedo's too much... if you would have just stuck with your tekin you would have saved time and money and had an esc that was dialed

Track time is not a problem, I am a consistent driver and dont wreck. if the car is not set up for me to go fast i slow it down a little and drive the car, i dont just go as fast as i can even though it doesnt handle. I drive like I dont want to break and that usually gets me the win. Oh I race on carpet during the winter, so I guess thats kind of comparable to touring car, but really all escs can do just about the same. none is really an advantage over another, its a brand name thing I hated tekins until lrp took a month and a half to get a spx8 and motor back to me, then i went tekin... I was not a fan of the customer service.
I was never really a fan of losi either, and im still not, but i like the way my mid motor feels, and the way the big bores came stock.

Here is the buggy

I tried a mini battery and it worked quite well, I was surprised. The tiny battery weighed less so it gave me a little more umph than the saddle pack did. The only thing i had to change was putting traction compound on the tires, the rear end was a tad loose when I made the change. the hole in the window is to cool my esc, for some reason it was getting to be like 160, dropped significantly with the hole.

I finally got my body back from the painter! It looks sweet! I will get some pictures soon. I managed to route the wires and electronics very neatly. I found a perfect place for te on/off switch on the side of the ESC mount in the back (mounted to the chassis) It's easy to access. I think I'm going to buy myself a DX3R Pro to replace my old DX3.0 as well as a birthday present to myself! A $230 purchase is going to turn into a $600 here.

Here's a cheap option for wider hexes, I used these Traxxas ones to get a 1.62mm gain in width. The stockers are about 3.84-3.86mm wide. One the new hexes, I sanded down the little raised portion around where the pin goes, to make the back completely flat. At this width it was about 5.47mm wide, giving a nice 1.6mm gain.

If you dont sand it down nearly as much you will get the 2mm additional width like Dustin's setup calls for.

Are you supposed to add 2mm on each side or 2mm total width in the rear?

Casper - are they releasing this as a TLR branded part now and thats why the Losa3983 is no longer available?
