Default Associated RC8e Rally

This is a little project thread about the little rebuild of my Associated RC8E, basically it is just being dismantled and given a good clean until now.

Bought it as a roller, and i got a car aside with spare parts and some hop ups, which only misses a couple of A-arms and some small parts to make a complete car. I am going to convert it to a 1/8 rallycar, bought it mainly for the dimensions being very close to the wheelbase and width of the body i am going to use.

Will have to see if the wheels are to big in combination with the body, so i will compare the size of the wheels i have now next to the body when i get it in in the mail, and then order some five or multispoke rims for it with asphalt/rallytires.

I have taken some pics during the cleaning, maybe not that exiting but here they are anyway.

The pics are pretty random, so you guess what is before and after pics

As someone here didn't quite fancy the title of my thread, you might as well change it to "My Associated RC8Be Rally" as this is a bit more describing for the topic.

I also appreciate to know who moderates in my thread, thank you

I have de-anodized my rear hubs to get them to look more like those in front, and also to try how to de-anodize for the first time, hehe! I used Mr. Muscle oven cleaner, but i think i am going to try something called Plumbo next time, (it is like caustic soda) this is much more aggresive to the anodizing and takes only seconds.

Had to use the Dremel with steelbrush on the remainings of the blue colour so they got a little coarse when this was done, so i am going to use some fine sanding paper to get them a bit smoother.

Whoosaah! I got the body today! It only took 5 days from Italy included a trip through the customs here, that is impressive to be here in Norway as the customs often use a week to declare the goods. There will come a pic of it later, it looks pretty good

Pretty much finished with the chassi now, i am going to take a trip with the unbrako and tight it all up and use some Loctite where needed. Going to use velcro tape to mount the esc with, easy come loose and at the same time get some coushioning from the velcro.

I almost forget that i have one more identical car in parts, so i will mount it all together one day to see what is missing of parts. I don't think there are many!

Lars
Here's your 2011 Stratos

It will only race in GT2

But hopefully there may come a 10th or 8th GT2 body

Yeah, that would be nice! This is one of the cars i like that has been "re-released" in 1/1-scale, it is very much similar to the original and not too "rounded" and futuristic. But i can't get myself to like the headlights, that is the only thing with this car

Placed the order for rims and tires today, the choice fell on the Proline Wabash for the rims. I think they will look good and scale to this body I guess i will have them monday or tuesday as it is weekend now.
