I would imagine about the same as the AE ceramic diff balls.

Ceramics are not standard in the kit though right?

How do I tighten down my slipper while it is installed on the car? It appears to have a slot to hold the slipper nut in one location while you spin the gear but I am not really sure which direction to spin it or if I need to loosen the motor first etc.

Put an allen wrench through the top of the chassis into the slipper nuts hole, face the buggy away from you and grab the rear wheels.. Rotate the wheels forward to tighten the slipper, the other way to loosen.

Correct, carbides come in the kit AE#6581 and the ceramics are AE# 6584.

Are the ceramics better? Do you run them?

Yes I personally run them, and they are great! They are a little bit more money but because of the increased hardness of the ceramic balls you can go several diff rebuilds without having to replace them. Since they are significantly harder than the diff rings the only way they can get ruined is if steel from the diff ring is deposited and stuck on the diff ball. This only occurs if the diff barks (slips a lot) and allows the steel to get hot enough to stick to the ball. This issue is worse with a carbide ball and way worse with just a steel ball.

For those of you running kyosho big bore shocks, what springs are you running. Switching to big bores and was looking for a little help and direction. What oils and pistons are you running?

What gearing are most of you running? I'm going to be running on mostly indoor hard packed clay. It's a pretty technical track and I'll be using a 9.5turn motor.

With the stock spur what size pinions should I keep handy?

I will also be running some on my own backyard track pictured below. In these pics I hadn't finished running all the pipe but you get the idea of the size of it:

I've been running them for a month now. I only have 3 official race nights (2 qaulies and a main per night) on them and they are performing really well. Buggy hooks up on large sweepers holding the inside line. Can't really see a big advantage on the jumps. My set up is in the rebound (reverse) position using the 3/4/5 valves. I have the option valves but have not installed them yet.

Mini8 Menace 03-31-2012 04:25 PM

how do you like it
