RC10B4.1 FT/WC
Hi folks,
Posted this in the MMP thread but it's pretty empty in there. Since this about putting lots of power in a B4.1, I thought I'd check with the experts!
Hope I can get some initial setup advice here. I'm about to install a MMP and 4600kV 1406 Castle motor in my B4.1. I was going to start with a 19/87 pinion/spur. Running on a outdoor hard pack clay track that gets a bit black groove when moist, but dries out often too, making it kind of loose. The locals here in AZ pretty much run Double Dees on the back. It's about a 30 second track, great times in the 25s, with a lot of jumps and turns, and really only 1 straight that's not long enough for full throttle for more than a second or so.
I know it's a lot of motor, but a wanted something to give good punch and torque for digging out of the corners and, well, be a lot of fun! So please don't just rain on my parade, I know I'm going to have to turn it down.
What I'm looking for are some tips for setting the throttle and brake curves, torque, punch settings - whatever else might be a smart way to properly harness the power of this setup... thanks in advance!
Any more info needed, just let me know..

2 lines short of full timing on the motor. 90% boost on the esc. 24/78. Runs awesome! Ran that the the jconcepts supercup in ocala, fl last weekend. SuperFastt!
I had an MMP in my B4.1 with the 5700KV motor for a while. Insane power. Too much, kind of like you figured. On our tight indoor track here in Minnesota, I ran gearing similar to yours with the overall power set down to 75%. Did some fartin' around with Punch Control and attempted to run the Torque control routine on it. I'm not a great driver so I eventually toned it down and smoothed it out with a sensored Viper VTX10.

I was lucky to get my hands on some of the prototypes. Lol. Actually I've been messing around with the TQ big bores (which are cosmetically very similar to AE). You will notice Hartson has a longer screw on the front tower, mainly b/c I found you need to space them back about 2mm so they don't rub. The rears fit fine, but I run a 1mm spacer on the bottom to prevent it from rubbing on the link. I have been runnin KYO springs and losi pistons in mine.

The pictures I've seen of Hartson's buggy look like standard V2 shocks.
Don't be hungry for big bores. When running for TQ I had both shocks and tested back to back on many tracks and in many cases on the smooth tracks with high traction not only was the feel better with the smaller shocks but lap times where just a little better, so depending on the jumps, and the way a track was this was more of a tuning option but in many cases I ran the smaller bore shocks.

And to think, this is how a SPONSORED driver speaks to hobbyists like myself in an open forum. And with that type of punctuation and spelling...
To think I actually had your back on here a few months ago when you first started posting. Ok, if that's how you want it.
You're not over any point besides really not being able to put the laps down. Hence your lack of attendance at the tracks. At least the tracks where there is real competition.
I will never doubt your willingness to help others and your love of the hobby, but let's be honest, there's the old saying "Those that can not do, teach".
As far as me being a hard head and a knuckle head as you put it, I never denied the fact gluing the servo saver will work. It's just something I'm not sure my driving skills are up to, after all, I can put the front end into the pipes with the best of them.
I learned some things at Motorama from AE sponsored drivers who actually PUT THEIR CARS ON THE TRACK. And, guess what? I actually saw a difference in the cars handling. None of what I learned had anything to do with what you told me.
For the record, I highly doubt you forgot more than I know.
I'm not sorry for putting you on blast just now.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled B4.1 programming.

Reports are that the are a noticeable increase in performance over standard shocks with BB springs.

Things are sometimes hard to tell, but these look standard. I guess I could be wrong.
