All I can say is that they are coming, but we're still testing lots of things and trying to make further improvements on the BB.

Alright guys, in two weeks my local track has gone to wet, hard packed clay, med traction, to sticky awesomeness, some blue groove with unlimited traction!

They started spraying it with some sugar water, mountain dew concoction..

I've been running brown/green forever. And I actually improved on my fastest lap by a whole second today with those springs. I know some people go stiffer springs when there is more traction. What are the benifits to that? Should I switch mine up? I have the whole AE spring kit.

Thanks!

In theory, with the same moment arm contributing force from the chassis, the stiffer spring won't allow the chassis to roll as much but it will offer a higher ceiling for a force counteracting the roll. Basically what that means is you can start working on roll center to increase the chassis impact against the spring.

I think I get it. Any key things I can look at on the track besides lap times to know whether stiffer is better or worse than what I am running now?

Hahahaha!!! I was told last week in an email from AE customer service that they had no knowledge of any such project

And I had just read in another article interviewing a team driver (don't remember who) saying they were in the works...go figure.

Anyway, glad to hear! I assume they will also fit the B44/B44.1?

Since they are a larger diameter, for a similar spring rate the willingness for the spring to buckle reduces substantially, and therefor decreases any side loading that would be imparted onto the shock (also causes the rubbing). This side loading increases shock shaft drag and reduces the amount of force being transferred to the tire. A lower force (downward), especially when cornering decreases tire grip. Both of the Ryans feel that our standard shock creates more side-bite than a BB, at the expense of the car not landing big jumps as well. I personally don't really think BB's are better, and we have been able to prove that they are magical (significantly faster) in any sense but there are some small advantages. I think people in general just think they need them....but we are working on our BB shocks and they will definitely be THE BEST!
What I'm gettin from this is what I believed all along about the BB shocks.
So riddle me this...
Will adjustment collars and spring cups be made available to fit the future AE BB springs on the current 1/10 scale shocks?

PLEEEEEAAAAASEEEE!!!!!!! I don't wanna put Losi parts on my AE car, It may cause bad mojo!!!!!

It is quite likely the spring cups from the AE bigbore shocks will fit the current shocks as well as the new BB's. As for the collars there are the GHEA collars currently available.

The GHEA collars are for the Losi springs on AE shocks. Who knows the exact measurements on the future AE BB springs will be. The GHEA collars are nice tho.

I can understand the want for something different as far as the big bores go. I put Kyosho big bores on my cars even though my shocks worked great. I ran Kyosho shocks bc I don't like That newer rings from associated seemed to leak where as the old ones did not.

Only difference I noticed between them was that over big jumps the car didn't bottom out with big bores. Shocks can be made to do what you want them to do. You can change oil pistons springs angle of the shocks and rebound. That being said the normal shocks won't bottom out over big jumps either if you increase the oil weight, but the thing is the car doesn't handle the way you want it to on the rest of the track with the heavier oil.

I just couldn't understand why wider springs if the rates were the same but I guess it is something different and some like the look or lack of rubbing. Idk about the rubbing though bc I never had an issue with that.
