The Official RC10B4.1 RTR thread is full of awesome people talking about how far they jumped their cars, how many back flips they did before that dog ran away with it and how much fun they are having with these sweet little rc cars. All without a care in the world about tolerance, maintenance or AE pr.
RTR has it's place. I like visiting that place.

Some swear by the Kyosho shocks, but it does only take a small piece of dirt or a slight nick on the shock shaft to destroy the O rings and they leak..
Mine leaked because i run on a track that is made on an old clay tennis court, so its very sandy clay..
Id say just buy a $2 set of O rings and just make sure your shafts arn't nicked and go again..

You pay good money for a good car, it ought to work. Just venting, and certainly no offense intended, but I don't subscribe to your rationale in this case at all. If I bought some POS off-brand for 90 bucks, I could see that. But I went with AE because they are the best. I shouldn't have to accept quality control issues just because I didn't build it myself. I wouldn't buy a Porsche and expect to have to put the shocks together myself to ensure a quality build.
Mistakes in production happen. It's up to the company to ensure those mistakes are rectified in a way that wipes those mistakes from the customer's memory, and turns a negative experience into a positive one. Hopefully, AE is listening.

As ThunderbirdJunkie stated before, ALL RTR's are this way, without exception. Many are worse.

You cannot compare a B4.1 to a Porsche. Period.
This is a hobby. Just because you get an RTR doesnt mean you didnt buy someone elses building mistakes. As a matter of fact, if a person doesnt build their own car its because they dont wanna be responsible for the mistakes made during the build. Or their just lazy.
The "im not mechanically inclined" excuses are a PC way of saying, "im lazy and want someone else to do all the work for me". Suck it up butter cup... crack open the manual... do some research... and be part of the answer.

1st day gear diff clicked
1st week. ESC smoked.
2nd week Idle gar cracked.
3rd week Steering servo gear cracked.
3rd week. Had to rebuild the shocks.
Now. everything has been replaced.
I rebuild my shocks 1-2 times a month depending on how much I race it or when they leak.
This is still cheaper than what I used to race. So i can't be mad. LOL
I hope you get the buggy worked out.
I just installed a new motor/esc combo in my buggy last night

You had me til that last line. You realize you just turned into the most evil
PR guy ever, right? Let me explain:
British Petroleum PR Guy: The best thing to take away from this is it's a learning opportunity for drilling oil properly.
I like how when the product fails, it becomes a learning opportunity for how to build the product better than the company that manufactures it. I am giving you crap a little, but honestly, that's the funniest damn thing I've heard in a while. I think you could easily make a Dilbert strip out of that one.

I've had shock seals leak after 1 run and some that probably would have lasted 100 if the other 3 shocks on the car didn't start leaking first. I take my time and have probably put orings in associated shocks 100 times, but in the RC racing world, its just a given that sometimes shocks let a little oil out.

ya.....those Kyo X-rings are the shizzle.....
Im not trying to sound like I have ran them on the AE car, I have'nt. I did use them with my Kcars though last season and they are far superior to anything else.

i bought a pack of 100 mcmaster carr x-rings and just rebuilt my shocks with a stock AE o-ring/white spacer/x-ring setup on my buggies. They feel awesome but will report back after a club race to see if they hold up.
