I agree with the true spec is RTR, everybody has 100% of the same parts just different set ups. But everybody likes to play with stuff and aftermarket needs. I think blinky is cool and mod, but just don't give me 100 different modes with 20 different settings otherwise I will go insane with....what if!?!?
I dunno only takes me a minute to setup the esc and motor. Viper actually has some really good presets for 13.5, 17.5 and mod. I guess to each their own.

take it over to the trash can and drop it in then head to LHS and buy a new one, lol.

Just joking, take it all a part and put it all back together again, new bearings, sand is a killer.

This for an indoor track, & you mentioned no rain, so I'm guessing yours is out door. For out door with more dust & loam, goosebumps --> 3d's --> dd's as the track gets drier picks up a groove. I've run all 3 on the same day as track conditions changed during a summer day.
One day I wish to run three different tires....that will mean I know what I am going!!

If it is a preset I am good with it, but i watched a youtube on Viper and got a little scared. If it says, 13.5 run this and maybe tweak a few things then I am good.

Blinky is when your ESC is blinking literally. Meaning no boost/timing is added via the ESC.

I just bought a used B4.1 RTR, and the seller kept the servo for use in another vehicle.

I'm looking for a servo with performance "good enough" for low-level racing and power draw low enough to use with the stock ESC/motor and Spektrum receiver. I need the third receiver channel for a transponder.

Would a HiTec HS225MG be a reasonable choice?

I'm glad you said that about the super soft compounds. I was really pondering if soft would be soft enough, especially in the early morning, and "maybe" a soft compound for the later afternoon rounds.

Tread pattern is something I just don't know anything about regarding racing on red clay (firm, but, slightly dusty).

The speed would be fine at the higher voltage, but, the torque is a little low for my taste, but, may be doable on a not-so-technical track.

you need to be looking for a standard sized servo, that one is too small for the car. try here:

Thank you for the quick replies.

Is a "technical" track one with a lot of turns, or sharp turns (or both)?

I notice the pointer to AMain was to analog servos. Is that for lower power draw?
