Yup, that is exactly what is going on. And yes, the original U brace was flush, go figure. I didn't do an exact measurement, but I did put a .030 shim next to that little raised section on the U brace and it looks like it is equal to about two .030 shims.

I tried this setup last night at the track and I think I like it. I tried the new C tower with a .030 shim under the inner ball stud for a pack and then tried it without the .030 shim. I found that without the shim under the ball stud, the car would tend to over rotate a little more. I was running on a track that is very, very smooth, and has pretty good grip.

It states for the average racer to remove the .30 washer under the inner ballstud in conjunction with the C tower. The second part states, Pro level racers have also found grinding down the raised portion (2mm) of the U brace, will give you more traction without sacrificing steering.

FYI - selling a brand new, never used Factory Team T4.1 with B-Fast Pro Drivers Diff Kit and RPM cups, substituted 0* FT hubs here. Only running Kyosho stuff now...

Finally the outdoor season is upon us, here in the east. What tires and inserts should I have in my arsenal for 2wd Mod Buggy? I would like several options. Most of the tracks are medium bite clay with some dusting but one track has poor traction because it's loose dirt that dries out easily.

For outdoor dry, dusty tracks Pro-Line Caliber M3 are almost always my go-to tire for 1/10 scale. For 1/8 I prefer the AKA Grid Irons. Also depends on the track.

What about Proline Suburbs M3 compound? also, what inserts should I be using when using a soft compound?

Suburbs are generally for indoor clay tracks. They're eqivalent to JConcepts Bar Codes, AKA Wishbones, and Panther Switch. I'd only run them outside if it's a really high-grip, hard-packed track. If you run indoor get the MC compound.

In a 2wd buggy you'll want to run firm inserts with soft compounds. Pro-Line's countour foams work really well. Epic Bomb Ones also work well.

I would have to agree with mdowney that a suburb style tire will only work out door if it's a high bite hard pack clay, they just don't like a lot of dust. I like Hole shot 2.0's and other tires in that style on dry dusty tracks, every track is different but I leave the bar codes and suburbs for inside..
