Default B4.1 or wait

I have started purchasing the components to run 2WD electric and just noticed there is a possibility of a new or upgrade to be released for the B4.1. Should I just hold off to see what happens or just get the current car as it stands today. If something is looming on the horizon I have no issues waiting a month or so.

To tell you the truth, no one really knows. You could wait a month or you could wait 6 months..

Wrong
our rings are not AE rings. We have our AE 2wd rings made to our material and hardness specs. When we used the stock 2wd rings in the past there were surface ground on both sides and then three step hand finished on both sides.

I checked into having a limited slip dif built for a 10th scale or 8th scale buggy. I was basing the design off a 1:1 gear lsd. I checked with a couple of machinists. They all said it would cost thousands to build a prototype (even out of plastic) & then a cost in the hundreds to mass produce. Keep in mind, that is cost to produce, not retail price. Personally I would say a retail price of $100 would be acceptable, but $300-$500 is not. Maybe one of these days I'll run across a machinist that would be more interested in the challenge than the money. If someone could get that done for a resonable price it would be an ABSOLUTE GAME CHANGER! It would be a MUST have for any one racing an rc vehicle.
If my idea works the way I think it should, it will be cheap. That being said, there's nothing new under the sun, so somebody probably already had this idea and it didn't work...

Good for 1/8 scale, not so good for the smaller stuff.

I will have to re weight mine but im a good bit under that with the differance being i have ti screws and am not running hex wheels. I believe mine came in at 1460g and that is with ft balast 1/4 th in each rear corner 3/4 in the batter tray behind the servo, 1/2 in front of the servo and 1/4th in the noise of the buggy.

Do the stock diff balls and rings hold up well if built correctly?

Is there any reason a brand new b4.1 would have a noisy drivetrain and not be whisper quiet? My mesh is fine, spur/pinion brand new, etc. It's not super loud, but it's NOTICABLY louder than my buddy's B4.

I think I read somewhere that the screws that hold the transmission case together can cause the tranny to be loud if they are a hair too tight.

Suggestions? I may take it apart tonight and put it back together.

you are the 3rd person with this problem in the last few weeks. If memory serves, check the cuts on the gears for the top shaft.

I wonder whats up w/ the top shafts as of late? Probably machined by the same folks that did the hubs

Yes they do. We've just been discussing the benifits, or lack there of, for spend a few dollars extra for the b-fast setup. I don't think any one would say anything bad about the factory kits. Some of us just prefer the b-fast dif.

A few pages back several folks were complaining about their bearings being loose the the worlds aluminum rear hubs.
