Default sc4x now shorter?

It seems that the sc4x will now be 66mm long instead of 72mm lke the novak 550's....

It will still be 13mm longer than a standard 540 though...

I think it was made shorter to better fit some 4x4 sc trucks.....

Specs from Tekin:

6061 T6 Aluminum
Diameter 36mm x Length 66mm
Weight 8.36 oz / 237 grams
Shaft 15.3mm x 5mm
Sensored

If you have any plans on running 3s go with the Rx8 and SC4x of your choice. This will be more than fast.

Anyone attending the IIC 2010 race in Vegas got a chance to hold the Sc4x motor....

Randy-

I've been waiting for the SC4X motor since it was announced in June. I'm a little concerned that the length of the motor has been shortened from 72mm to 66mm, because it may not have enough power/torque for my application.

I want to use it in an RC8 that has been converted to 1/10 4x4 SC truck (basically an SC8e with a shorter chassis and body) on 2S with an RX8. The 1/8 conversions are heavier than typical 4x4 SCs like the Jammin and Hyper, so I'm worried the motor will struggle and generate too much heat. Do you think the SC4X will cut it? I thought about using the T8 2650 on 2S, but that would require a huge pinion and I'm not sure how a T8 would run on only 7.4v. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

... and don't forget to bring an SC4X to the Roar 1/8 E-Nats this weekend so we can see it

I'm also working on the same conversion. De Rc8 is a lot heavier then the Slash 4x4 (that I have as well). I would definately put a 4-pole buggy engine in there and not a SC4X. If the SC4X is really designed for 4x4 vehicles it should run well also in a Jammin. But the Jammin is almost as heavy as the RC8 and I seriously doubt that it will work. I know people driving Slash 4x4 with the Novak 550 size engine on 2S and they have to use a huge fan (50x50) to keep things cool. The Slash is at least 500 gram lighter then the RC8. When the SC4X comes out I will probably take out my MMM 2200Kv and put this in the RC8 and probably buy the SC4X for the Slash that runs best with the 3S lipo's I have.

I'm surprised you are having heat issues with the 550 cans. I have beat the snot out of mine for over a year in my hyper with zero heat issues. It seems like I can gear anywhere. I have run it from 14/42 up to 17/42. It is stupid fast. Just won a sp 5.5 at a race and am debating wether to sell it or try it. I will prolly run my HV till it dies and then get a Tekin. I know it will be as good or better than anything out there.

I would like to know what compromises were made to shorten the can though and what we could expect in comparison to whats out there now. Either way I will be on the wagon as soon as I can.

Can one of you guys weight the Rc8 SC converted car you're using?

I doubt the heat will be an issue but since I don't run one of these maybe I can test it in one of my 1/8 cars that weighs close.

I converted my original rc8 to what they are talking about when I picked up an rc8b. With an rx8, 2050 buggy motor, and 4s 5k mah pack it was tipping about 8.5 lbs with the body on compared to my rc8b with the same electronics that weighs in at 8 lbs. Of course, there's a lot of weight to be saved with the motor and a 2s pack.

My RC8e SC conversion weighs nearly 9 pounds with the RX8/T8 2000 (truggy) and 4S 5000mah battery. I love this setup, but there is a 2S limit for racing.
