Yes, the 78 teeth Dmax spur indeed is a direct fit. We'll start a bit on the conservative side with the Speed Passion 17.5R and a gearing of 78/25 or maybe 28 at first, as its a tight track, new and probably tight gears and intended for driving a whole battery pack in one go. It is nice to hear though that more extreme gear ratios seem to work, too. 72/34 is a ratio of 4.97, right?!

D-MAX spurs do fit. Tried and tested over the years since the B-max's first appearance.
Unfortunately the supplier gave the incorrect information to your LHS since the D-MAX is not imported into Australia and they got confused with the standard yokomo drifter's spur setup...

I bought DMAX spurs (white) for mine ages ago, and mentioned it in the early pages of this thread. BMAX 4WD spurs dont go under 78T?, but DMAX ones go to 72T.
