Hi all, I'm in the process of upgrading my Slash. I'm going with the Velineon package. As its a tried and proven drop in upgrade. I need a great set of tires from dirt racing. I race at Huntingdon R/C Raceway just outside of Huntingdon, PA. My Slash has been running with the 4x4 nitro monster trucks, and on occasion truggys. On the stock tires and motor I'm having difficulty with traction in the turns. (plus I know I'm racing with trucks the Slash wasn't intended to run with. There is another guy at the track who just upgraded his to Velineon, but is also having trouble finding suitable tires. He bought his Slash after seeing mine run with the monster trucks and truggys. But anyone know of a good combo of tires and rims?

Glad to help.

I guess this is because they're plastic? The solution to tire shredding for bigger scales HV setups on RCM seems to be to go with beadlocks.

It does depend on the power.

Pro line's Epics are very easy to put together, and I agree if you are running to much power you will take them clear off of the wheel but like I said ai havent had problem yet and I am running a 6.5R Velocity in mine.

I had the problem right off the bat with my vxl 3s setup. Then i glued the bead to keep the tires in the rim and the tire instead of coming off the bead, ripped. I would stick with just the stock tires.

someone mentioned running proline dirt works tyres in the epic beadlocks... do any normal tyres fit in them aswell, i thought they had to be beadlock specific...

I thought as long as the tires were the right size for the wheels, it didn't matter, beadlocks of not. I've never seen anything that said there were specific tires for beadlock rims.

There are specific tires for beadlock rims. The tires have to have a little inner lip that can hook under the bead so the bead can keep the tire held on.

Hey I just found a tire that may work well. The Gladiator 2 tire from Proline. they were designed with buggies in mind but will fit the 2.2" rims called for by the Slash. Anyone try them? I might take a chance with them.

Hi Guys, I've had my slash for years now and I'm running the proline slingshot sc's one the front and rear ( lots of dunes quite close to us) and if I'm on dirt I use the stock. I have no traction problems running 2s with the stocks however when I run them with 3s on start off I get a whole ton of wheel spin and once it gets going it can't corner unless I completely slow it and then I have to start it up again.(WHEEL SPIN)
