Best 17.5 brushless motor for off road?
I'm in the market for a new 17.5 brushless motor and want to know what some of you people have come up with as to a good 17.5 motor for off road. Im currently running the speed passion 17.5 and it just feels soft. My Final drive is at about 6.9 and I just want something more. I want to know if anyone has ran the new LRP, Orion, or Trinity motor's and what they think or how they feel to them. Thanks for any help

Seems like Novak motors is what almost everyone runs.

I have the new Trinity 17.5 in my T4 and it's a torque monster. I run 31/76 for a final drive ratio of 5.78. It accelerates very good. 31 is the biggest pinion I can get on there.... for now. After a five minute main it's just barely warm, so you could go bigger on the pinion.

Well I am running a novak 17.5 and my fdr is 5.0. Running a 72 spur, 36 pinion....I am going to put a 38 pinion in it soon as my motor/esc only gets to about 50c. That will give me a fdr of 4.7! You have to run brushless near the limit to get the best out of it. In comparison to the lrp, speed passion etc, I would have to say it is fairly close. No wonder you are getting sluggish performance running @ 6.9 fdr. How hot is your esc/motor getting?

Murfdogg motors
I run Murfdogg motors which is a Trinity based brushless they are very torquey which is really good in offroad. I used to run Novaks and they are good as well off the shelf.
I have tested speed passions and they are alittle soft on the bottom end.
The Orion's are looking really good as well with there phase 3 brushless. Not out yet though.

Well i can guarantee that everyone that is fast has a lower fdr. Do you check the temps after each run? You can run a novak upto say 175 before it will go bang. I know some ppl who have a fdr of around 4.0 in a b4!
