Unless you are running a stock brushless motor it will not last you 30 mins.

If that's the case, how do you race a 30 minute main on electric? Are most races shorter? Or maybe you have to go with the ultra expensive MaxAmps 8000?

On similar topic, which charger does everyone use for Lipos? I found these two, the Duratrax Ice and Venom Pro

The Venom goes up to 5S and has a balancer built in, and this is what I'm leaning toward, but I haven't found any good reviews on it yet (Ice has many).

You prob could put a mild motor in and putz around the track waiting for others to break

We run a 10.5BL stadium truck class and have 10 minute A-mains. Everyone makes time with just about any battery over 3000mah (this class was started before LiPo was allowed).

Does it hurt to "top off" lipos? Can i run one for 5 minutes or so and recharge it, like between quals and before the main. Was unsure if it was better to run them down near the cutoff and then recharge or just top them off after a run? Also what do you guys think of the AstroBlinky Balancer? Thanks

I have a integy 16X307-Lithium charger and a blinky balancer chip, i use them with my 8 scale reciever packs for 2 years now without issue.

thinking about making the switch with my 1/10 buggy to lipos from nimhs and just wondered if anyone has used the blinkies with their 1/10 packs, i believe the astro blinkies are popular among air guys, but it can balance up to a 5cell pack.

I use my blinky for absolutely everything. Tx packs, 2s car packs, and even my 4s packs for my electric 8th scale

Well just an update on getting the 2 trakpower 4900's and the v balancer.

I was getting them through modelflight at AU$150 for each 4900 battery. I placed the order and paid for it, only to get an email saying they are out of stock and it will be 10 - 14 days, in the last couple days i have added a couple parts to my order and paid the extra AU$20. They then asked if i wanted my order processed and i said yes. To which i then get a reply of

"We have received the batteries now but unfortunately the FPEVO49002SCP has
been superseded by FPTP49002SCP @ $208.32. This means that we need another extra payment of $116.74 if you still wish to receive these items."

Now to me this is disgraceful that i wasnt informed of this as soon as they knew, and not after i added and paid for extra items. Will be asking for an immediate refund on all items.

Any suggestions for some decent packs around AU$100, preferably from an Australian based store. I found these http://www.harrisrc.com/li-pos.htm first item, roar approved 3200 hard case lipo packs for $55 any good?

thanks for any input!

I'm on a budget for a bit, so I decided to get 2 of the ProTek R/C "Supreme Power" 2S Li-Poly 30C Car Battery Pack (7.4V/4000mAh) @ $61.99 each...

Specifications:

* Type: Lithium Polymer
* Capacity: 4000 mAh
* Voltage: 7.4V nominal
* Connector Type: None (12 GA Wire)
* Balancer Type: Align/E-Flite compatible
* Number of Cells: 2
* Weight: 225g
* Configuration: 2S1P
* Dimensions (WxLxH): 43 x 140 x 17mm
* Maximum Charge Rate: 2C (8.0A)!
* Maximum Continuous Discharge: 30C (120A)
* Maximum Burst Discharge: 60C (240A) for 3 seconds

I'm just using these in a stadium truck, and will be just practicing for a while, so will see how they hold up.
