I made the mistake of trying the robinson gear, you will have to do a good amount of chassis grinding to make it work.

I don't know, I haven't tried them. I switched to the teckno pinions because of the huge set screw they use and haven't looked back.

I always like the Hoopty Buckets (Hot Bodies) pinions for racing because they are light and use a bigger set screw than Losi.

I have a friend at the track who has a Losi RTR Eight-E 2.0 for sale. He wants 600 for it and comes with a motor/esc combo already inside.

Im wondering, is this combo sensored? Is it good quality? Is the buggy the same as the race roller I would buy without the esc/motor combo?

I just dont want to get a RTR and have the parts be less then the race roller. I dont mind paying a little extra for the ESC/Motor combo, I have my own I will put into it.

But I bought a Kyosho RTR and it was junk.

So if anyone knows about these RTR's just let me know please.

Thanks.

It is hard to say without seeing pics but $600 sounds high. I would offer him $300 with hopes he will settle for $450.

He took it out of box, looked at it, hes like 65 or so. He bought it thinking his friends would buy an 1/8 also, but decided to stick to SCT.

Its never touched the floor, its clean as a whistle. Its got this Xceleron 2100kv motor, with a programmable ESC. I just dont see any reviews on this esc and motor.

From what Im reading on the Losi website its the 8ight-E 2.0 Race Roller with there electronics in it. Just need a reciever and servo and go.

Im just trying to figure out if its REALLY the race roller. The last time I bought a RTR I was kinda screwed on it.

Understood. This is the Losi race roller which is a bit better quality than the Nitro RTR that uses blue or red anno for the aluminum bits. I say it is worth the $600. I do not think the Losi Xcelorin stuff is too bad but is not the choice of most racers but is fine to get you started. Like any pre-built kit you want to go through and make sure there is Loctite on any screws that are not threaded into plastic.

A couple other things: The "kit" tires from Losi will come unglued fairly easy. Also they often press on the shock ends instead of taking the time to properly screw them on during assembly. Lastly there is no telling what they used for shock fluid--go ahead and change the fluids. The 2100Kv is quite a bit of motor so keep an eye on temps . . .

Awesome. I was hoping for this answer as it looked really pretty in the box

I have a RX8 and a 2050kv motor I bought to put into my Kyosho Inferno VE RTR, but I just put that in my junkyard. I love my lose SCTE so getting this buggy will keep me in the Losi family!

Back to the pinion thing really quick, the tekno pinions with the large set screw have only been out a few months. If ordering online make sure you are getting new stock and not the older version with small set screws.
