Guys I have two lipo chargers, one is the losi losb9605 and the other is a clone of it. I cant get either one to charge at the 5amp rate they say they will. I am doing 5s 5000mah and 4s 5000mah packs and I have the charger set to 5amp output but only top out at around 3.5 or 3.6 amps. I am using the stock wires that came with it on the input side but I put 12ga from the output bananna plugs to a ec5 connector. Also I am using a 12amp power supply so I know its not that. I can actually run both chargers at the same time and only get max 3.6 amps out of each one no matter if both are hooked up at the same time or if just one is hooked up. What am I missing?

Yeah, what Jube said. It's probaly only a 50W charger. Most of your smaller/cheaper chargers are only 50W. It will only charge 5A on a 2s pack. When a 3s pack gets to 12.6V it will only be about 4A. It just keeps going down from there. Take 50W and divide by pack voltage at the moment and that should be the charge rate(amps) at the moment. I'm not bashing on the smaller chargers I have 2 of them. One elecriflite and one no name brand, but they both work just fine for me. And remenber if you are connecting 2 in parralell on one battery and they are charging 3.6A each, you are putting 7.2A in the battery. Make sure your batteries can handle that!!

Go on amain and read the extra info they provide for the Fancy Hyperion and bantam charger's,....this will give you a good idea of what you charger can and cant do....there's a simple math equation to figure out exactly what your charger will out put.

They are correct, it's only a 50W charger, and it SUX. I have one, never gets used any more, I simply don't trust it. Ever since I bought much better chargers at a lower price, the Losi junk has been a paper weight. If you want to charge your 4S packs at a higher rate, you'll need a better charger like an ICE, or an I-charger:

My power supply is only 13.something volts.
The 4s 5000 battery is 14.8 volts.
I set the charger to 5 amps but only get 3.5 max.
Electro techies, voltage come into play also?

It'll step the voltage up automatically. The limiting factor is the wattage of the charger. My 50 watt chargers will only charge my 4S packs at about 3 amps. My 250 watt charger will charge up to 6S @ 5 amps.

FN, what charger are you using?

I was trying to charge my 5S 4000mah with a Core 50watt charger and it could only do it at 2.x amps.

You need a charger with a higher wattage rating.

3.7v x 4 cell = 14.8 volts (not sure if I should use 3.7v or 4.2v but you get the idea.)

14.8v x 5 amps (charge rate you want) = 74 watts.

In this case, a 50 watt charger wouldn't cut it.

I am using a TP610 (80 watts) now.

Yeh, I'm not bummin on my charger, was just sayin.

I'm using the Orion Avionics, no biggie, just takes a while at 3.5 amps.

I'll check out the watt rating but really not worried, it's most likely wimpy.
