1. <Car> Losi 8ight Truggy
2. <Motor> TeknoRC (NEU) 1515 1Y
3. <Speed controller> CC Monster Max
4. <Lipo Battery> Looking into A123 but most likely Maxamps 6000mah 5S2P
5. <Charger> Still deciding
6. <Conversion Kit> TeknoRC V3 Brushless
7. <Cooling Fan> Looking for 40mm for motor
8. <Likes of your setup> Parts in mail
9. <Dislikes of your setup> Parts in mail
10. <Description on your motor performance> Parts in mail
11. <Battery Life> Any guesses with my setup and battery?

Obviously I am waiting on the new Monster Max's ESC to come out, hopefully they won't fail now. Also the TeknoRC NEU motor and conversion kit should hopefully ship within a couple of weeks.

I have a few questions for those more experienced with electric 1/8th. Is the Monster Max built in fan good enough or is another fan required? I will be running the truggy in Iraq where it gets pretty dang hot outside! Will the 1515 1Y running at 18.4 volts be pretty quick or do you think I should upgrade to 6S lipo's? What would be one of the best AC/DC Lipo/LifePo4 chargers you would recommend for under $300? Does anyone know with the TeknoRC electric clutch system if I will still have reverse capability? Would you recommend a seperate BEC and not tap off the Monster Max to keep temps down? I might even consider a seperate Rx pack.

That's all that I can think of for now.

In terms of charger, it looks like a lot of people are going with the 610i.

When get get info on the A123 batteries, let me know details about this battery.

1. RC8 (building it now, previously the car was a Jammin)
2. Neu 1512 1.5Y
3. Tekin R1 Pro
4. Poly RC 6000mah 4s (overkill, about to buy an Elite 4800 as a 2nd batt.)
5. ICE
6. RC-Monster.com
7. 2 25mm Much More Hi-RPM
8. In the Jammin, the power was smooth, instant, and still controllable.
9. Battery is pretty heavy, but Like I said, it is overkill.
10. Smooth, Easy to drive. TONS of low end. But if I wanted to gear it up and have TOP, I could.
11. 25-30 minutes on the 6000. Probably 15-20 on the 4800 I am guessing.

I would give Castle a call to confirm about the Mamba Monster and the heat thing. I think though the ESC doesn't depend as much on the fan as say a converted Mamba Max would. I have the Mamba Monster and it works great. When they fix whatever issue it is they had, I will send it in during the winter if it keeps running and have them send me an updated one.

For charger, I would go with a Hyperion 610i . Excellent charger. If you wnat to charge more than one pack, look into there duo model. I use this with an MRC power supply and it works great.

I ordered the Hyperion 610i Duo. Seems to be one of the best chargers out there.

1. Car: Losi 8ight
2. Motor: Novak HV 4.5
3. Esc: Mamba Monster
4. Battery: Neuenergy 4s 4100mah 30C
5. Charger: Ice
6. Conversion Kit: RCM motor mount, homemade battery strap.
7. Cooling fan/heatsinks: None
8. Likes: Light weight, 7.1-7.4lb rtr, fast, durable, reliable, simple.
9. Dislikes: Hard to gear down properly for tighter running areas.
10. Motor Performance: greater than 45mph no matter what gearing used, wheelies from standstill, runs about 160-170F.
11. Runtime: 12-15 minutes.

I'm actually going to exchange my HV4.5 motor for a HV7.5 motor and get the castle neu 1512 1Y. I may also run 5s on both motors and get a hyperion charger. I mainly bash, so capability of high speeds are somewhat of a priority.

Here is my setup

1. Losi 8ight
2. Neu 1512 2d/f
3. Tekin R1pro (with 2 caps 35v 2200), case mod (holes in case for cooling. Receiver pack Nimh.
4. Polyquest 4s 6000, Elite 4s 4800
5. 2-Astro flight 109's
6. Monster motor mount, RCPD standard tray- long, center diff top plate/ESC mount (Dan's).
7. Yes, fan blows directly on solder posts on ESC.
8. Pretty fast, but not too fast, Everything has been working great.
9. Would like to get a little more runtime for longer mains, I need the fan to keep the ESC temps in check (or should I say to keep it running cooler), I can run without the fan but it pushes the ESC a little hotter than I like and would like to get away from the fan.
10. Motor's performance is.. what can I say the Neu's run great... but should have gotten the Neu 2.5d to get more runtime on my 4s setup
11. With the Polyquest 6000 I can get about 15 minutes + but need to run it on a large track to check runtime on a larger track. Elite 4800 just over 10 minutes (pack is getting weak).
12. gear ratio: 12/46 (kyosho spur)

This sorta my dream ideal setup.

I'm still waiting on a reliable ESC to come out, I dont really wanna mess with returning fried ESCs or soldering thicker wires to MM and getting external BEC. =/

Until that happens, this will remain as a dream only.

1. <Car>8ight 2.0
2. <Motor>Neu 1512 3D/F
3. <Speed controller>MMM, whatever version is finally as reliable as MM
4. <Lipo Battery>PolyQuest 25C 5S 4350mAh
5. <Charger>iCharger 106B+
6. <Conversion Kit>RCPD kit or 8ight Electric Conversion kit (undecided)
7. <Cooling Fan>None!
8. <Likes of your setup>It's perfect, in theory. =D
9. <Dislikes of your setup>Too expensive and untested.
10. <Description on your motor performance>Can't say, but hopefully great.
11. <Battery Life>Unknown, but hopefully slightly over 20 minutes due to higher efficiency of higher voltage (in theory).

1. <Car> Caster Fusion EX-1 sport
2. <Motor> Medusa 36 60 2000kv
3. <Speed controller> Mamba Max w/ Castle BEC
4. <Lipo Battery> 2 - Maxamps 6000maH
5. <Charger> Ice
6. <Conversion Kit> None required (Factory Built!!)
7. <Cooling Fan> None required
8. <Likes of your setup> Best balanced and handling buggy I have ever driven.
9. <Dislikes of your setup> Plugging in batteries is a lot more challenging than tuning a motor....NOT! (I don't have the pro kit yet)
10. <Description on your motor performance> Runs cool and efficiently. After a full run motor temps in the mid 130's.
11. <Battery Life> Get over 25min of racing on my packs, but I believe that slow is fast....

By the way, orange is faster than blue or yellow...
