How long do the chassis standoffs need to be? Axial makes 3mm standoffs in several lengths and colors. Here is a link to the Grey posts.

Thanks for the thought.I already reasearched that option. Some of the generic lengths can be used, but they need to be shortened slightly which adds to the cost even more. It's actually cheaper all the way around to have them made locally.Which = lower costs for everybody.

I live in Michigan. Since the auto industry went sour there are TONS of machine factories here hungry for any type of work they can get their hands on. So priceing per unit is very competitive right now.

Good to know. I was going to ask the same thing as Academy has those old style posts from the SBV1 that we used to use as braces for the top deck to the chassis.

Looking forward to more video of your tests!

Just for a laugh, do you guys want to know whatI used for my stand-offs on the proto type??? Gv2 front axle shafts 6 of the 8 only had to be shortened about 2mm on the back side, so they will still be usable for axles. The 2 for the front bulkhead mount were shortened significantly though.

good stuff!

as a side note, I had to rig up longer body posts for my STR4 Pro II VTA car using the parts from the sway bars to lengthen the height of the posts!

Anyone else still running the Pro II sedan? wouldn't mind trading some notes on it. Its actually pretty good little VTA car, though mind has these custom graphite shock towers I am not sure who made them though.

couple pics of my temp body to run until the Azarashi gets here from China.

I made it out of some.030" lexan. I tacked it together with thin CA. After the Paint cures a couple days I will reinforce the seams with GOOP. It should get me through the 2 race days I will need it to last.

We had a very good first day out with the MM2 conversion except for the first round when a marshall stepped on the front end of the buggy on the 2nd lap, so I was out.Nothing broke, but the temp body required some repairs before the 2nd round. The rest of the day the buggy dominated. I had TQ in the 3rd round but botched the run on the way back to the line after the buzzer went off. Doesnt really matter since I went on to win the main..The buggy handled great all day, even as the track became pretty rutted up in the high traffic areas.

Heres an action shot from the main, Should have a full vid of the main to post in a few days.

That's pretty cool. It's not often a homebuilt conversion dominates on the first attempt.
