Paul, I think there needs to be some sort of a note or an * with the b4.1 axles for hex conversion stating they only work with JC wheels and/or JC hexes.

My wheels (DE & AKA) wobble on them. I am using Avid hexes. If I put two washer's that are about 2mm thick on each wheel (before the nut), I can tighten the nut up and get no play/wobble. No washers and it's pretty bad. I did a little research and found another post about this as well.

With no washer's I can tighten the nut fully to the axle and it does not fully seat the wheel. As a matter of fact, if I try to tighten a little more the entire hex/axle would spin in the wheel.

Needless to say this is unacceptable and I am going to have to spend more money on AE axles.

Would you please clarify for me? Are you saying you need to run the AE axles and Avid hex adapters? I'm going to be changing over my B4.1 to hex and don't want to "experiment" with what fits properly and what doesn't fit.

Your help is appreciated.

It sounds like you have an issue with the hex-wheel fitment. The JConcepts hex fits on the AE axles, also the JConcepts axle. The AE wheel fits the JC hex. The AE hex fits the JConcepts wheel. The issue is not the axle.

Paul,

Will you make it to Smac in MO? Looking forward to seeing the JCon crew!

No Paul. Jason will be at this, and all of the JConcepts Indoor National races. Paul is at the Reedy this week.

I saw that WCRC had them in stock, but sadly I'm on the other end of the country (NC) and was wondering when they would be available on the Jconcepts site.

Any word on the relase date of the titanium turnbuckles? Was just about to get 2 sets of Lundsfords, but if you are about to release them... I saw them on Mayfields B4.2

Soon. I don't have an exact date, but we do have a small batch of them at the Reedy race this weekend.

I'm not trying to bash but what is the advantage of the turnbuckles over the stock AE titanium pieces?

Awesome, I shall wait patently for their arrival (I have the look of the blue ones and miss the Titanium that the old Losi's came with).

What I'm saying is that specifically the Avid hexes appear to be a problem with the JC axles. The two wheel I have tried wobble, and if you search the b4.1 forum you can find at least one other member with a similar issue and one other member in this thread.

Buy the JC axles and Hexes and you should be all set. Or just buy AE stuff.

edit: My ae axles just came in today. I will put them on tomorrow and post my findings.... I just know at this point, with the Avid hexes and the wheels I have, the ONLY way to get the wheel to tighten on the hex is with shims between the wheel and wheel nut.

I never once said there was an axle problem!!!!! I simply stated that other's have had problems with Avid Hexes on the JC axles and with other wheel besides AE or JC. It would be nice if JC could point this out. A simple asterisk on the site/product page and in the product description would work. Not too tough and hell, it might even sell some more blue hexes for JC:rolleyes:

Update: AE axles and Avid hexes work. No shims, no wobbles....

If I would have known this was an issue from the start, I would have bought JC Hexes too. Hence why I said it would be nice to maybe include that little tidbit somewhere on JC site/ product info.

I still may buy the JC hexes.......The axles are REALLY nice compared to stock AE.
