Anyone have experience with the ext2.4 yet? From what I've read on specs, seems to be basically just a brushless chassis and tranny and a flysky rebrand. Contacted duratrax themselves with some q's and apparently it comes with the longer ball studs from the factory, too. Just looking for feedback, can't seem to find any reviews.

DTXC8081 Idler Gear ...Discontinued
I use a Brushless Evader tranny in my ST Pro, and have been using it ever since late 2011. The idler gear referenced in all the Associated B2 diff gear tranny mods (Nitro ST Idler DTXC8081) has been discontinued. I do believe now Hobbico/Duratrax has given up hope for the Evader ST.
I take it back...there is hope....

EXT2 Idler Gear DTXC8092 - Replaces Evader ST/Nitro Idler DTXC8081
I did a search this morning and found it has been asked twice about using the EXT metal idler gear in the original Evader ST/ST Pro gearbox. I couldn't find a definite answer though. It bugged me all day cause I have three ST/ST Pro trannys that I kept for spares. If I was to do the Associated B2 diff gear upgrade to handle high powered motors...
Here's what I came up with:
DTXC8080 Evader ST Idler .6395 inches in diameter
DTXC8082 EXT plastic Idler .6545 inches in diameter
DTXC8092 EXT2 Metal Idler .6415 inches in diameter
Since the metal EXT2 Idler was only .002 inches difference from the original ST idler...into the ST gearbox it went...I was amazed...a perfect fit AND even uses the same 5x10 bearings as the Evader ST! Feels smooth when turning top shaft.
So maybe this will help someone rebuild their tranny when they can't find the old Niro Evader ST Metal Idler. I have left Tower Hobbies a comment saying that a DTXC8092 Duratrax Idler Gear Metal & Shaft Evader EXT2 will work in place of the discontinued DTXC8081

Brushless Evader Diff Screws
As soon as you hear some funky low toned grinding noise ....STOP!!! The low grinding noise I heard was the screws coming loose on the BL Diff and the spider gears starting to grind. I'm pretty sure that's what it was. I could turn the screws with no effort and the diff joints/case had play in them.
I think I had about 30~40 runs on the tranny since last inspection. All in all...I'm happy! All the gears have teeth...and all internal gears turn smoothly. I can't complain...pictures of what a 3+year old tranny looks like at my garage...
All that grease is from the inside of the diff I suppose....flew out as the diff gear case screws were coming undone

Loctite Them Diff Screws
Those screws on the Brushless Evader diff do and will work their way loose at some point. About once a month I take the tranny apart and inspect all parts. If all looks good...I just clean it up...put it back together. But if I do see/feel any of the diff housing screws are loose...I take apart the whole diff; clean gears and the threads with motor spray or brake cleaner; wait for it to dry; carefully repack with grease (not getting any in the diff housing threads); put back together with blue (medium) Loctite thread lock on the 8 diff screws.
Let the thread lock cure overnight before attempting to run your DTX RC.

I bought an Evader way back when I was just regaining interest in the hobby. I had so much fun with it, and always wished I would have bought a brand new Evader Pro to keep as a reminder of how much fun it was! Glad to see guys still running them, and much more options available now like the gear diff.

The Brushless Evader was the best out of the whole Evader ST line up. I just don't understand why they go back a step using the EXT gear diff in the continuation of Duratrax's truck.
Eh, guess they just wanted optional parts to sell instead of putting the great stuff on first.
Also I wonder how long they'll produce the Evader EXT2.4.

In the hands of others.
Sunday, I had a bunch of people over for daughter's birthday party... the Evader ST Pro got a work out one last time for the year I do believe (We got 9" of snow since I typed this up).
I may have started something good with me handing over the radios over to about four new drivers of RC cars. Everyone had a blast, bashing my Evader ST and B4 buggy at the track. I caught myself saying, many times, "You know there is a thing called throttle control with that trigger." We all laughed at each other's reckless driving ... it was more like a circus on wheels ... cartwheels, endos, arms locking. I pretty much knew it was gonna be one of the last times outside with my vehicles, so I let it all hang out... putting the fastest motors I had in the ST and buggy for the new drivers to rip and tear, and no cutting back on the throttle End Points like I do normally to save tires.

I know this thread isnt very active anymore, but worth a shot.
I still run my very old evader st for fun here and there. looks like I finally cooked the original diff from all the brushless power, short of the b2 diff mod, has anyone found anything new that works? looks like I can still get what I need to replace the parts, but I prefer to put something beefier to handle all the power that the original wasnt built for. seems none of the newer evader diffs will mount up directly. who out there has something to solve this?
