Default EB410.2 stripping spurs when hitting jumps (non-racing)

I drive my EB410 mainly in local parks and parking lots.

Today I first partially damaged the spur, and later destroyed it completely, when hitting speed bumps.

I suspect the chassis is flexing when hitting the speed bumps. It would be safe to say the speed bumps are “abrupt” - there is no gentle run-up. The impact is probably rather sharp, even though the car is not bottoming out or scraping the speed bump.

I am currently running both the short and long chassis braces, which I figured would make the chassis pretty stiff, but maybe what I have actually done is made the “flex point” very close to the center diff. I would not have thought the chassis could flex enough near the pinion and spur to cause misalignment given that the center diff mounts are firmly attached to the chassis and to one another, but I am reasonably sure the damage is happening just when I hit a jump hard.

Apart from avoiding such jumps, are there any other fixes? Anyone else have trouble with the stripped spurs?

I’m not as experienced as others but my guess is bad mesh. I wouldn’t think the speed bumps would cause it. Race conditions can be much tougher than hitting speed bumps and race guys rarely strip spurs. My $.02

Try swapping out to the 32DP spur from the ET - a lot of us do this in the UK, makes stripping much less likely.

I race and am currently using the 32p spur from the ET. My stock spur stripped out pretty quickly but I am only running one rear brace.

Oh my. I'd hate to see you (smirkracing) with the first gen EB410's spur gear. The .2 is supposed to have better material. Doing what Toby said ^^^, and I'll bet it won't happen anymore. I know the 32p spur is one tough piece of composite joy.

Thanks guys. I have ordered the 32p gears and the exotec diff covers as well. We will see how it goes.
